I made a small comment about 27 million Australians stopping eating tuna' out of the 7 billion inhabitants of the world, would add about a week to it's existence and I was more rogered up the ass than a Bob Brown alter boy.


There are somethings we have to work on globally but with such a high population something has to give.

OP, I have struggled with this topic for years. I am an animal lover and hate to see them suffer, but I do not do physically well when I eat a vegetarian diet. I was a vegetarian for a while, and it just did not work for me. This article I read, The Naive Vegetarian, did a lot to get me thinking logically about the debate instead of only using my emotions.

And don't get me started on PETA and other "animal rights" organizations and the pure evil that they practice. It's an abomination.

I think that many vegetarians are brainwashed, and I know because I was one. Their hearts are in the right place, but they are not using their minds. These animal rights groups play on people's emotions, but keep much of the truth hidden. Something must die in order for you to live. That is the law of this planet. And if you are a vegetarian who eats dairy, then you are certainly contributing to the deaths and suffering of dairy cows and their calves. What people should do is concentrate on making the lives of food animals better by not buying factory meat or dairy products and maybe eating LESS meat. When you buy for convenience and price, that contributes to the torture and horror of the mainstream meat industry. Support your local, humane farmers.

PETA want all animals to be free, no matter what the consequence. The RSPCA on the other hand, care about what is best for the animal.

I was in touch with PETA's Asia Pacific head, and I quizzed her as to what they were doing about the shark fin industry (perhaps the cruelest and most wasteful industry on the planet). Their response was that they sent "one" letter to "one" resort. That was it.

Besides the eating, we are all omnivorous after all, i always thought that, having an animal in your house as a pet, no matter what kind of animal cat, dog, bird in a cage or fish in a tank, is bad for them. We never asked them (how can we ask them after all), if they want to be locked in an apartment or a house etc just for our entertainment.

How does that differ from you working 10 hours a day in an office, school or building sight

After all, even if its a bird in a cage or a fish in a tank, you are in fact protecting them and almost ensuring that they live as long as possible. Otherwise there is a good chance they would die young in the wild.

She was a pound puppy and an abused dog and we've had her for 3 years. She's an amazing creature and we are very lucky to have her in our lives.

I thought of each of us in this world today when I was at the Grocery Store and there was a very large (overweight) family with Mom, Dad, 10ish year old very heavy son, and they had 3 carts of food. I thought about the impact of each one of us and how some leave a much bigger footprint than others, though we are all definitely guilty.
