I don't want them to live in this nightmare overpopulated world. Besides, someone has to set an example.

But in the same reply you said that you could not do anything to change the world. And yet you believe you are by having no kids. Thats cognitive dissonance (or crazy to the lay person).

Why are you bashing the more planet friendly diet while claiming to care about the planet ?
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5051820

As I already said, at least when you have cows/sheep roaming the fields and paddocks, other animals are living alongside them. That is not the case when you are growing your lettuces etc.

So which is really the more planet friendly diet?

animals and farms are meant to go together. they fertilize the soil and we get to eat the vegetables, fruits, grains, and meat produced by the farm.

And we are??

History pretty much says a planet is fucked. Pick a planet.... any planet..

I'm sure if pandas could get off this rock they would be long gone!

Yep we are. We are just ignorant.

No need to hurry things along just for a few extra $.

You can either leave, or do something. Other than implementing population controls (which no one would adhere to), I dont see any solutions.

Just so you guys know, as long as you are alive and kicking, you are harming animals.

You build a house, you contribute to the death of some animals. 2 millions acres of land is lost each year in the US due to urbanization.

You drive a car, you contribute to the death of some animals (roads, pollution etc).

You eat salads (no meats), you contribute to the death of some animals (perhaps even more so than if you ate meat).

You wear cotton, you contribute to the death of a shit load of animals. The cattle that live next to a cotton farm are usually too infected with pesticide to be sold for human consumption. Cotton fields are deserts.

You cannot escape it. All we can do is learn to live with animals and respect them for what they are.

So please do not go mouthing off because you think you are high and mighty, because you are not.

You do realize that the cow/sheep need to eat a lot of "lettuce", and you take 10 times the space from the real nature and the wild animals ?

They have been cutting down the rain forrests to be able to grow food for animals that we eat...

Thats not planet friendly

Lets all agree that we need to have 2 kids maximum?!

lol cos I know that 90% of humanity is too selfish to even agree on that.

Think you are partly missing the point. I think most vegan/vegetarians don't like the thought of consuming the flesh of another animal. I for one am not vegan/vegetarian but also don't go out of my way to eat meat every day. Why? Because it has a tremendous environmental impact on this planet to raise cattle/whatever just for consuming.

As well as the meat you get the wool. So you are getting two for the price of one.
