An Uside down American Flag.

The upside down U.S. flag is an official signal of distress. It is not meant to be, and is not officially recognized as any type of disrespect when so displayed for the right reasons. To the contrary, here is the relevant part of the US Code of Laws regarding how to fly the flag when in distress:

§ 176. Respect for flag: No disrespect should be shown to the flag of the United States of America; the flag should not be dipped to any person or thing. Regimental colors, State flags, and organization or institutional flags are to be dipped as a mark of honor.

(a) The flag should never be displayed with the union down, except as a signal of dire distress in instances of extreme danger to life or property.

Most individuals who have served in the military service of our nation will (or should) recognize this signal.

As a result of the many traitors and enemies we as a free people have, both foreign and domestic, as a result of the many unconstitutional acts, legislation and atrocities passed and/or committed against US citizens and their life, liberty and property, and as a result of policies that have allowed (and continue to allow) enemies of this nation to enter in large numbers through a porous border policy, I believe the life, liberty and property of US Citizens are in dire danger and distress.

I'll trade this flag in a second to have back 1/10th of what it used to represent.

Flying the US flag upside down is a legitimate and respectful sign of distress. Considering the level of total corruption in Washington DC and the near abandonment of our beleagered constitution, I would consider anyone flying the flag upside down to be a patriot.

Kind of surprises me that every non-governmental U.S. flag isn't flown upside down.

when I was a teen working at a middle school as part time custodian I tool the flag out in the mornings to hand it up the pole..about a hour later a cop walked into the maintenance room where we all were and looked at us then ask..any problems...Nope we said.. Well your flag is upside down. My boss fell out of his chair..oh shiz. I said..opps...I got an education right then.. Nothing bad but I learned what that ment early in life.

We are in the middle of the greatest crisis this country has ever seen and have nearly completely lost the Republic to Socialists and Communists. That's no small thing for what was the greatest country in the world. I keep an upside down flag on my desk as I keep working but watching the country collapse around me.

At this point and time my flag IS upside down and tattered, just as our once great nation is.

I like things to be done the right way but I have no respect for the flag or what it stands for. This country has been turned upside down and needs to be made right. I do not think that the flag being flown upside down matters. If we are to be patriots then lets start by taking back our rights and get this patriot act overturned, lets follow the constitution as it was intended and when we become free I will share your respect for the flag.

Your correct..........The flag should be flown upside down. "We" are under duress by a government who is systematically destroying this country,constitution and the American way of life.In-turn this is "respect" for our flag to show this country is in mourning!By God's grace,hopefully the American citizen will wake up before it is too late!I'm not to confident they will as long their main desire is self gratification and the lack of concern for their neighbors well being.

But this flag was in AZ and the woman (guard) could barely communicate with me due to her lack of being able to speak English.

There are twoAmerican flags - the War Flag and the Peace Flag.

The War Flag has the horizontal strips - like most people are familiar with.

The Peace Flag has vertical stripes.
