FYI it does start in 2012. Just like year 2000 wasn't the 21 century it really began on January 1st 2001. Same would apply to this.

I have also read in places that the Mayans had the end date but later revised it to a different date to approx a year later. Dec. 24 will come and go and like the Mayan we will revise the date to Dec, 21 2012.

Dec. 24, 2011 will still hold great significance just as the Mayan thought it did in the first place.
