one guess is this :

The attack comes a day after a Belgian court sentenced four members of a Pakistani family to prison for the murder of their law student daughter and sister in the country's first "honour killing" trial.

It is definately not the first time that happened in Belgium,
honor killings
it happened before, it just never got classified as religiously based crime
it got classified as premeditated murder
the only difference in this case was that the whole family got ruled guilty

I'm just thinking in a sense that they tried to escape. The one perp didn't suicide, but was killed by police, the others ran (also one report talked of a woman among them).

ps: 1 victim is a 2 yr old, fighting for its life atm.

first report said one man(possibly two) started throwing grenades at a bus stop.
then radio news said it might be related to people(untold number) trying to escape from the court in liege (which is on the same square as the bus stop)
but why would they just throw grenades at a bus stop?
if you escape you try to get away no?
i do not think this qualifies as a diversion for busting out of the courtroom. that would just be nuts since there is a good chance you could just walk out of there.

so no clue, from me anyway hiding

2 or 3 perps still on the loose!

I don't agree. Completely different case here. Several killings over years, now connected to a nazi 'terror' group with intel involvemet. They didn't investigate the killings thoroughly then because they thougt these were mafia killings, which seem to be tolerated in Germany.

with crimes like this , that cause civil uproar, they just want to find a person they can pin it to
the question of the crime being solved and the real criminal being brought to justice is a very hollowed out idea
they just want to pin it on someone to give the idea that justice has been served (meaning: stop civil unrest)

Re: madmEn throw grenades in Liege
One of two or more assailants threw stun grenades into the courthouse while another was hurled at a bus shelter, RTL-TV1 said.

Shots were fired across the square by gunmen posted on the rooftop of a bakery shop, with further shots heard later from across town.

Police cordoned off the square and gave chase to the assailants, one of whom was reportedly killed. The gunmen are thought to be hiding in Liege cathedral.

There was no civil uproar before. Some turkish and greek small business owners were killed, years ago. I think the connection to the nazis is related to the introduction of new laws for monitoring extremists.
