Advanced mathematics or chemistry means little to the unwashed masses. The reason that science plods along so slowly is that it is beholden to recapitalization and/or the need to milk pennies. Also, the particular properties of various elements are difficult to ascertain under the myriad of conditions they would need to be tested under unless an application exists to warrant this. Much likened placing the chicken before the egg. Unlike universal sources we also have limited energy to work with to create the densities and molecular fluencies we would need to truly understand material or particle physics let alone quantum manipulations. |
