Have you guys actually read the bill? It specifically states that this doesn't apply to American citizens unless they commit terrorist acts.

A lawful legal alien is just a person committing a crime who hasn't been caught yet,

All 12 million of them.

Ron Paul folks - time for some research

Ron Paul voted aye for motion to instruct conferees on this bill so all's well...one of the last votes they had on it...Dec 7th...so....I'm sure it doesn't mean what you all think it does...or he wouldv'e been raising holy hell about it...right?

Ron Paul has been very outspoken publicly about this. Who knows why he voted that way, but instructions aren't binding.

He was real outspoken about that McCain Durbin amendment...which was scrubbed...and well it should have been, along with McCain and Durbin both...half senile old fucktards....but I haven't heard much lately since that amendment was struck down from him or anyone else...that was the real detention amendment that everyone was rightfully pissed off about...really IMO it's a very long stretch to find the sinister in the Sec 1031 or whatever it is...

It's why the fervor has mostly died down over over this bill...the real problem was removed. There is no bill, act, law or amendment which says, "The Federal govt cannot make you wear a pancake on your head all day"...because there doesn't have to be...these bills say what they can do...if it doesn't say it's allowed?....then they cannot just make shit up and do it.

Yeah I know they over reach a lot, but they do that anyway...it's why you fight back against it...but I just don't see this allowing for the major jumps it would take to reach the conclusion that a lot of people think would happen.

I appreciate your optimism...I don't agree, but your points are valid. I think only time will tell, though.

“I think the Patriot Act is unpatriotic because it undermines our liberty,” Paul said. “I'm concerned, as everybody is, about the terrorist attack . . . Terrorism is still on the books, internationally and nationally, it's a crime and we should deal with it.” Paul added, however, that the framers of the Constitution warned the country not to “sacrifice liberty for security,” yet “Today it seems too easy that our government and our congresses are so willing to give up our liberties for our security.”

“I have a personal belief that you never have to give up liberty for security. You can still provide security without sacrificing our Bill of Rights,” added Paul, to which the candidate was met with a round of applause.

You know, this whole thing is controversial and arguable, with so many opinions on the matter. Lots of opinions saying it's harmless, some claiming FEMA will be on your doorstep the day after it becomes law.

I say, think about how things were only ten...maybe five...even only two years ago, and then just take a good look around you at things now. How much has everything changed...and in what direction is it changing? Look at the overall picture honestly...and then ask yourself how harmless a law like this can be.

Think about how some older laws were fit for the time...but then how they are taken out of original context and misused today. And then ask yourself how harmless this law can be.

FEMA on your doorstep the day after this is law? It's possible, but I doubt it. A law with the potential to be used against it's own citizens never to actually be abused? Again, possible but doubtful.

Think again about the direction that the world is headed in, and then think about the possibilities of this law, and you have the answer.
