A belligerent is an individual, group, country or other entity which acts in a hostile manner, such as engaging in combat. Belligerent comes from Latin, literally meaning "to wage war". Unlike the colloquial use of belligerent to mean aggressive, its formal use does not necessarily imply that the belligerent country is an aggressor.

Obama will sign it...he wants another four years....if he were to veto it would bring in much more scrutiny of this section of the bill.
Don't forget the US has detained citizens on American soil and put them in detention camps without this authorization...just ask a Japanese American who lived in california during WW2.We the people....better wake up!

right. if they want to incite the public so bad, why not have cops and military drive around throwing pies in our faces. but i think it's to incite just those that the pharma and tv and frequency mind control stuff isn't working on.

then it will be easy to cull the obedient ones, even the police and military, just like night of the long knives, when hitler had his SS kill the brown pants.

Section 1031, which relates to the use of the armed forces to detain covered people “pursuant to the Authorization for Use of Military Force,” has a very narrow purpose of describing detention “under the law of war” of people who either participated in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001, or is a member or “substantial supporter” of al-Qaida, the Taliban, or “associated forces that are engaged in hostilities against the United States or its coalition partners.”

It appears somebody HAS seen/read this before.
 Quoting: chaakin

Dealing with associated forces: closest I could find in a law dictionary is association:

Association
A group of people who have joined together for a common purpose. Unlike a corporation, an association is not a legal entity. To make this distinction the term "unincorporated association" is often used, although technically redundant.

[link to www.nolo.com]

Can mean sovereign citizen movement, libertarians, constitutionalists, etc.

And according to the SPLC; these are part of the over all right wing extremist groups, i.e. domestic terrorists, who seek to cause great harm to the US and its citizens.
"If Tyranny and Oppression come to this land, it will be in the guise of fighting a foreign enemy"- James Madison

"Joining the military does not mean that you will be defending the country. The purpose of the U.S. military should be to defend the United States. Period. Yet, one of the greatest myths ever invented is that the current U.S. military somehow defends our freedoms. First of all, our freedoms are not in danger of being taken away by foreign countries; if they are taken away it will be by our own government. It is not a country making war on us that we need to fear, it is our government making war on the Bill of Rights. And second, how is stationing troops in 150 different regions of the world on hundreds of U.S. military bases defending our freedoms? It is not the purpose of the U.S. military to change regimes, secure the borders of other countries, or spread democracy at gunpoint. The Department of Defense should first and foremost be the Department of Homeland Security."--Laurence Vance--

How long has martial law been on the books? A couple hundred years?

Why are we freaking out now?

You don't really expect them to honor the constitution if total rebellion breaks out do you?

Of course they wouldn't and neither would you.

"(b) Applicability to United States Citizens and Lawful Resident Aliens-
(1) UNITED STATES CITIZENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to citizens of the United States.
(2) LAWFUL RESIDENT ALIENS- The requirement to detain a person in military custody under this section does not extend to a lawful resident alien of the United States on the basis of conduct taking place within the United States, except to the extent permitted by the Constitution of the United States."

there's the key word: requirement, meaning they don't have to detain american citizens, but can under their discretion.

this will go into effect 60 days after signing by pres.

a state attorney chimed in on this and pointed out the wording: requirement on a thread days ago.

and remember, once it's passed, it will be modified as it goes without people knowing.

I've tried making a similar point, but it seems to fall on the deaf ears.

Thing is - if they really wanted to "round us up," they'll do it regardless of NDAA/1867 being passed, etc.

Not that we should just be okay with letting this go through Congress and on to the White House and then into law.

It's just that TPTB will do what they want regardless of the law. They always have.

And what happens to Americas moral high ground when it comes to human rights?
 Quoting: X 4651805

You mean like, "The whole world's watching"?

By the time the government starts arresting and detaining American citizens, the rest of the world will be too busy dealing with their own problems to waste their energy finger pointing and calling out the American government for so called human rights violations.

This bill is clearly designed to deal with the inevitable rioting and looting which will follow the "natural" distasters, on the horizon for the entire planet.

It's time for you idiots to wake up.

If you saw some of things we aren't ALLOWED to see, this would seem like a walk in the park to you.

People were saying the same thing ten years ago when Bush came out with HIS version of indefinite detention FOR AMERICANS without trial and nothing has happened even remotely close to what people were claiming ten years ago.

So why is it all of the sudden a threat now?

It's not, people are just stupid and they didn't know we were going through this same shit 10 years ago.

They think this is all brand new created single handedly by Obama.

The fools are being controlled again.

Ask yourself...why do you think it is that our government creates panic and then when you dig a little you find out that they are ALL invested in food storage companies, guns, and emergency prepping?

Fucking idiots are so easy to control...even when they THINK they are awake.

The best slaves think they are free.

Maybe it's naive, but I will always think that some things are worth fighting for, even if it's in very small ways like waking the people around you up to reality or preparing as best you can for your family's safety if things get really bad. Maybe things really are on an unchangeable trajectory, but it's not in my nature to go quietly and make it too easy for them.

Are you telling people they should just give up and accept the recent pieces of anti-freedom legislation without a fight? I'm not being an ass, I'm just really curious if that's how you feel...

Re: NDAA/S.1867 censorship of the bill... they are hiding Section 1031!
Can someone give me just one reason why voting for this bill, in direct contravention to the Constitution and in direct opposition to civil rights law, is not in itself a felony, and voting with other senators isn't conspiracy commit a felony?

You're the conservative, it was YOUR best buddy Bush that started doing all this openly.

Give up what exactly?

This shit has been going on since before you were born, why are you freaking out now?

Because now you know about it?

Give me a break rookie.

It's me, the rookie...I forgot to sign in.

I'm not freaking out and I know that this stuff has been gradually building for a very long time. I honestly just wanted to know if that's how you felt because I feel very differently.

Do you really think you're slowing them down at ALL?

You give power to what you fight. Ponder on that for a minute...let it stew for a while, and always remember that grasshopper, for it is a FACT.

That, my friends, is some scary propaganda. Who do you work for, anyway?

Might have something to do with the tort laws? All I really know is they consider themselves immune from any and all laws, as is apparent with the the corruption said members have been involved with. Anyone of us caught doing the things they have done would go straight to federal prison for life.
