"Repent of your sins that ye not allow murderous combinations, which are most abominable and wicked above all, in the sight of God, get above you, which are built up to get power and gain. For these are they who seeketh to overthrow the freedom of all lands, nations, and countries; and it bringeth to pass the destruction of all people, for it is built up by the devil, who is the father of all lies. When ye shall see these things (secret combinations) come among you, ye shall awake to a sense of your awful situation."
The above is a passage from the Book of Mormon but also possibly in the Doctrine and Covenants (I am a casual member trying to find my way back, I can't quote line and verse), I believe in the book of Moroni. I am a Mormon, a member of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints. Jesus Christ is my savior and Lord. I worship the almighty God, and do what I can to be in the proper spirit to receive peace and guidance from the Lord through the Holy Spirit.
This post is not an attempt to 'convert' anyone. What this is, is an attempt to illustrate the various prophecies of the LDS church and its' Presidents (AKA: Prophets, as we believe them to be) and how these things that I once wondered how they could ever come to fruition, are now happening BEFORE OUR EYES. It's frightening, it's disheartening, but I also have faith that through the guidance and prompting of the Spirit, we may overcome the darkness that will soon be falling over this once great nation.
Here are various prophecies, and how they are in this day and age coming to fruition (in no particular order):
1. SECOND CIVIL WAR. Many presidents (a.k.a: PROPHETS, if you will) of the Mormon church have prophesied of a future time when the United States would suffer a second Civil War. Melding together aspects of several different 'prophecies', it appears that an invading foreign power coupled with great internal strife will lead to an inevitable civil war; one that will pit "neighborhood against neighborhood, city against city, town against town, county against county, state against state, and they will go forth destroying and being destroyed". This seems interesting to me in light of the vision of George Washington, the first President of the United States (google this). He had a vision, which he had transcribed, that gave him a 'history' of sorts of the future of the United States that included the first Civil War and a second period of struggle that involved a union of various countries of Europe, Asia, and Africa; a "dark, red light that moved in huge hordes by sea" to the American continent and "devastate the whole country". This actual, physical invasion of the United States was beaten back in his vision by 'angels', who bore the national standard (the Stars and Stripes).

2. THIRD WORLD WAR. Many 'prophets' of the Mormon church have stated that terrible, destructive wars are on the way at some point in America's future. Perhaps the most chilling and pertinent to the events of today is the vision of George Albert Smith, who was president/prophet of the Mormon Church when the dissertation of this prophecy was given in 1946. Some of the major points of this prophecy were:
a. U.S. would have missiles in the ground 'like grain silos'. The U.S. would also have missiles in Europe, which the U.S. would withdraw to appease Russia, then the war would begin.
b. Soviet Union (Russia) would hit these sites and destroy some cities.
c. The President of the United States, at the time of this future war, would be the first U.S. President not of "British or Northern European ancestry".
d. The U.S. would be entangled by alliances with other nations, and would take away weapons owned by the people.
e. One tactic specifically in Europe would be to hide military equipment in tractor-trailers and by rail.
f. The aftermath would be worse than the Great Depression (which he lived through), and would make the conflict just finished (World War II) look like a 'training exercise'.
The interesting thing about this particular 'prophecy' is that at the time of the vision (1947), the United States and Soviet Union were allies. Also, at that time, the idea of "missiles" that could carry a nuclear payload was unfathomable. In fact, the president of M.I.T. said in 1950 that "Intercontinental missiles with nuclear warheads are impossible".
3. PERIOD OF RESTORATION OF A CONSTITUTIONAL GOVERNMENT UPON THE AMERICAN CONTINENT. We have all seen or heard about the "Mormon" Idaho politician who held 'Mormon-only meetings' to discuss the future role of members of the Mormon Church who would, in time, restore Constitutional government to the American continent. First of all, when the time comes, those who will do this 'work' will do so out of necessity or a sense of patriotic duty; for anyone to set themselves apart as one who would 'help bring this about' is a jackass who is overestimating their ultimate importance. President/Prophet Joseph Fielding Smith (not the original Joseph Smith) as well as Ezra Taft Benson, more recently, specifically stated that the "Elders of Israel", or Mormons, AS WELL AS FREEDOM LOVING PEOPLE OF OTHER FAITHS AND NON-FAITHS, would step forth and save the Constitution. Some of the basic points of the prophecies regarding the "Constitution hanging by a thread" and the role of the Mormon church (more specifically, I think, at the time these things will happen, the membership) in preserving the Constitution:
a. The government of the United States will collapse, either as a result of internal strife and invasion or these will occur as a result of governmental collapse.
b. Members of the Mormon church (calling themselves 'saints' as they currently do) will gather in several places in large numbers, primarily for reasons of safety once these horrible events begin to transpire. Most notable of these places is somewhere 'in the Rocky Mountains'. They will be joined by many people who are not of the Mormon faith, who wish to gather with them for means of safety and brotherhood/fellowship, as the unity of these communities will be extremely apparent.
c. As a means of governing such a large populace, these 'survivor communities' will adopt the U.S. Constitution, IN ITS ORIGINAL FORM (meaning, the original document and the Bill of Rights) as a standard for governance. There will not only be Mormons in these communities, but members of many other faiths and non-faiths, who are good and willing people who seek safety and peace in terrible times. Many people of all faiths, backgrounds, colors, etc. will declare themselves in favor of this form of governance and order, and will ally themselves with these peoples.
d. The 'roving bands' who will prey on all they come across will keep their distance from these communities, presumably because they will be well organized and also well-armed.
e. The United States Army, engaged in repelling the invading foreign soldiers (Russian AND Chinese), will be very nearly defeated; with roughly HALF of the Army having given up, taken prisoner, or deserted. At some pivotal point, the "Boys from the Mountains" (the 'Mormon' settlements) will come to their aid, and the remnant of the U.S. Army will "rally round" and ultimately defeat the invading forces here in America with 'divine help'. There is no reference to exactly what kind of 'divine help' this will be.
It should be noted that the Mormon church/religion/members/etc. have NO INTENTION of taking over the government of the United States of America, as I have read many people state that this is the "plan" of the Church; This is blatantly FALSE...in fact, the entire spectrum of action on the part of Mormons in any capacity is on the RESTORATION OF ORDER, and the guarantees of civil liberties as outlined in the Bill of Rights. When the government of the United States collapses, there is no 'enforcer/guarantor' of your civil rights; those who are willing to come under the governance of these communities will be subject to and protected by CONSTITUTIONAL AUTHORITY. The Constitution is not a document only for the United States of America; but is in fact a DIVINELY INSPIRED DOCUMENT by 'men whom God raised up to that task' that applies to ALL MEN, in ALL PLACES. The Constitution belongs to all people, NOT to any government.
Here are other prophecies and statements concerning our current times:
JOSEPH SMITH: "The Turkish Empire of the Crescent will be the first power to be disputed, for freedom must be given for the Gospel to be preached in the Holy Land. The Lord took of the best blood of the nations and planted them on the small islands now called England and Great Britain and gave them power in the nations for a thousand years and their power will continue with them that they may keep the balance of power; and they will keep Russia from sweeping her power over the world. England and France are now bitter enemies but they will be allied together and be united to keep Russia from conquering the world.
"The two popes, Greek and Catholic, will eventually come together in their decline and be united. The Protestant Religions do not know how much they are indebted to Henry VIII for throwing off the Pope’s bill and establishing the Protestant faith. He was the only monarch who could do so at that time and he did it because the nation was at his back to sustain him. One of the peculiar features in England is the established Red-coat; a uniform making so remarkable a target to shoot at, and yet they have conquered wherever they have gone. The reason for this will be known to them some day as red is seen in a different color threading through under all history. The lion and the unicorn of England comes from there being so much blood of Israel in the nation."
THOUGHT: “Turkish Empire/Crescent” (ISLAM) to be disrupted. Is THIS the reason for the “Arab Spring” and the popular anti-government/Islamic Tyrants protests sparking up in the Middle East?
JOSEPH SMITH: “The time will come when the banks of every nation will fall and only two places will be safe where people can deposit their gold and treasure. This place will be the White Horse (The Rocky Mountain settlements) and England’s vaults. A terrible revolution will take place in the land of America, such as has never been seen before; for the land will be left without a Supreme Government, and every species of wickedness will be practiced rampantly in the land. Father will be against son and son against father; mother against daughter and daughter against mother. The most terrible scenes of bloodshed, murder and rape that have ever been imagined or looked upon will take place. People will be taken from the earth (FEMA death camps?) and there will be peace and love only in the Rocky Mountains. This will cause many hundreds of thousands of the honest in heart of the world to gather there, not because they would be Saints (Mormons), but for safety and because they will be so numerous that you will be in danger of famine, but not for want of seed, time and harvest, but because of so many to be fed.”
The first one I'll throw out is that the United States Federal Government would become bankrupt and collapse, as a direct result of 'greed' and 'spending her strength and treasure warring in foreign lands'. I will find out who this prophecy is attributed to specifically and repost.
There is also a prophecy that the Great Lakes would empty into the Gulf of Mexico, creating a division of land masses in the continental United States that would literally split the country in two. We've all heard of the Edgar Cayce prophecy that says this as well, but Joseph Smith prophecied this in the 1830's or 1840's.
Also there is a prophecy is of a 'grand sign', or the 'harbinger of the coming of the Son of Man', that would signal the imminent (how close, ??) return of Jesus Christ. This sign would be seen by 'all flesh' (everyone on the earth) and it would be dismissed by many as a "planet, a comet" and Joseph Smith himself said that "many would suppose it to be two great comets colliding together" and would start out small in the heavens and gradually grow larger until it would be easily seen by all on the earth.”
JOSEPH SMITH: "The United States will spend her strength and means warring in foreign lands until the other nations will say, "Let us divide up the lands of the United States" . Then the people of the U.S. will unite and swear by the blood of their forefathers that the land shall not be divided. Then, the country will go to war, and they will fight until one half of the U.S. Army will give up, and the rest will continue to struggle. They will keep on until they are very ragged and discouraged, and almost ready to give up - when the Boys from the Mountains will rush forth in time to save the American Army from defeat and ruin. And they will say, "Brethren we are glad you have come; give us men, henceforth, who can talk with God." Then you will have friends, but you will save the country when its liberty hangs by a thread, as it were."
Brigham Young: "The Lord will open the earth and swallow up such cities and New York, Boston, Philadelphia and other great cities of the nations; and the sea will heave beyond its bounds (tsumani? ) and famine will spread; not only over this continent. And the Saints (mormons) will close their eyes upon the scene and their hearts will be filled with great pain." - July 15, 1860
JOSEPH SMITH: “A time is coming when the great and populous city of New York, the greatest city of the American Republic, will be left without inhabitants. The houses will stand, some of them, not at all. They will stand there, but unoccupied, no people to inherit them. It will be the same in regard to numerous other cities, or in the words of the Lord, "I will throw down all their strongholds, and I will execute vengeance and fury upon them, even as upon the heathen, such as they have not heard", It will all be fullfilled, but there will be a remnant who will be spared. It will be those who repent of their sins; it will be those who believe in the Lord Jesus Christ, and are willing to obey his commandments, willing to hearken to his voice, willing to be baptized for the remission of their sins, willing to be born of the spirit, or receive the Holy Ghost by the laying on of hands, willing to walk uprightly and honestly with all men, and justly with one another".
Lastly, I leave you all with the VISION OF GEORGE WASHINGTON, the first President of the United States.
THE VISION OF AMERICA’S DESTINY AS SEEN BY GEORGE WASHINGTON
The last time I ever saw Anthony Sherman was on the fourth of July, 1859, in Independence square. He was then ninety nine years old, and becoming very feeble. But though so old, his dimming eyes rekindled as he gazed upon Independence Hall, which he came to visit once more.
"Let us go into the hall," he said. "I want to tell you an incident of Washington's life, one which no one alive knows of except myself: and if you live, you will before long see it verified."
"From the opening of the Revolution we experienced all phases of fortune, now good and now ill, one time victorious and another conquered. The darkest period we had, I think, was when Washington after several reverses, retreated to Valley Forge, where he decided to spend the winter of 1777. Ah! I have often seen our dear commander's care worn cheeks, as he would be conversing with a confidential officer about the condition of his poor soldiers. You have doubtless heard the story of Washington's going to the thicket to pray. Well, it was not only true, but he used often to pray in secret for aid and comfort from God, the interposition of whose Divine Providence brought us safely through the darkest days of tribulation."
"One day, I remember well, the chilly winds whistled through the leafless trees, though the sky was cloudless and the sun shone brightly, he remained in his quarters nearly all the afternoon alone. When he came out I noticed that his face was a shade paler than usual, and there seemed to be something on his mind of more than ordinary importance.
Returning just after dusk, he dispatched an orderly to the quarters of the officer I mention who was presently in attendance. After a preliminary conversation of about half an hour, Washington, gazing upon his companion with that strange look of dignity which he alone could command, said to the latter:"
"'I do not know whether it is owing to the anxiety of my mind, or what, but this afternoon, as I was sitting at this table engaged in preparing a dispatch, something seemed to disturb me. Looking up, I beheld standing opposite me a singularly beautiful female. So astonished was I, for I had given strict orders not to be disturbed that it was some moments before I found language to inquire the cause of her presence. A second, a third, and even a fourth time did I repeat my question, but received no answer from my mysterious visitor except a slight raising of her eyes."'
"'Presently I heard a voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' while at the same time my visitor extended her arm eastwardly. I now beheld a heavy white vapor at some distance rising fold upon fold. This gradually dissipated, and I looked upon a strange scene. Before me lay spread out in one vast plain all the countries of the world Europe, Asia, Africa and America. I saw rolling and tossing between Europe and America the billows of the Atlantic, and between Asia and America lay the Pacific. 'Son of the Republic,' said the same mysterious voice as before, 'look and learn.' At that moment I beheld a dark shadowy being, like an angel, standing, or rather floating in mid air, between Europe and America. Dipping water out of the ocean in the hollow of each hand, he sprinkled some upon America with his right hand while, with his left hand he cast some on Europe. Immediately a cloud raised from these countries, and joined in mid ocean. For a while it remained stationary and then moved slowly westward, until it enveloped America in its murky folds. Sharp flashes of lightning gleamed through it at intervals, and I heard the smothered groans and cries of the American people. A second time the angel dipped water from the ocean, and sprinkled it out as before. The dark cloud was then drawn back to the ocean, in whose heaving billows it sank from view. A third time I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' I cast my eyes upon America and beheld villages and towns and cities springing up one after another until the whole land from the Atlantic to the Pacific was dotted with them. Again, I heard the mysterious voice say, 'Son of the Republic, the end of the century cometh, look and learn."'
"'At this the dark shadowy angel turned his face southward, and from Africa I saw an ill omened specter approach our land. It flitted slowly over every town and city of the latter. The inhabitants presently set themselves in battle array against each other. As I continued looking, I saw a bright angel, on whose brow rested a crown of light, on which was traced the word 'Union,' bearing the American flag which he placed between the divided nation, and said, 'Remember ye are brethren.' Instantly, the inhabitants, casting from them their weapons became friends once more, and united around the National Standard."'
"'And again I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn.' At this the dark, shadowy angel placed a trumpet to his mouth, and blew three distinct blasts; and taking water from the ocean, he sprinkled it upon Europe, Asia and Africa. Then my eyes beheld a fearful scene: from each of these countries arose thick, black clouds that were soon joined into one. And throughout this mass, there gleamed a dark red light by which I saw hordes of armed men, who, moving with the cloud, marched by land and sailed by sea to America, which country was enveloped in the volume of the cloud. And I dimly saw these vast armies devastate the whole country, and burn the villages, towns and cities that I beheld springing up. As my ears listened to the thundering of the cannon, clashing of swords, and the shouts and cries of millions in mortal combat, I again heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' When the voice had ceased, the dark shadowy angel placed his trumpet once more to his mouth, and blew a long and fearful blast."'
"'Instantly a light as of a thousand suns shone down from above me, and pierced and broke into fragments the dark cloud which enveloped America. At the same moment the angel upon whose head still shone the word 'Union,' and who bore our national flag in one hand and a sword in the other, descended from the heavens attended by legions of white spirits. These immediately joined the inhabitants of America, who I perceived were well nigh overcome, but who immediately taking courage again closed up their broken ranks and renewed the battle. Again, amid the fearful noise of the conflict, I heard the mysterious voice saying, 'Son of the Republic, look and learn,' As the voice ceased the shadowy angel for the last time dipped water from the ocean and sprinkled it upon America. Instantly the dark cloud rolled back, together with the armies it had brought, leaving the inhabitants of the land victorious."'
"'Then once more I beheld the villages, towns and cities springing up where I had seen them before, while the bright angel, planting the azure standard he had brought in the midst of them, cried with a loud voice: 'While the stars remain, and the heavens send down dew upon the earth, so long shall the Union last.' And taking from his brow the crown on which was blazoned the word 'Union', he placed it upon the Standard while the people, kneeling down, said, 'Amen.'
"'The scene instantly began to fade and dissolve, and I at last saw nothing but the rising, curling vapor I at first beheld. This also disappeared. I found myself once more gazing upon the mysterious visitor, who, in the same voice I had heard before, said, 'Son of the Republic, what you have seen is thus interpreted. Three great perils will come upon the Republic. The most fearful is the third (The comment on his word 'third' is: "The help against the Third peril comes in the shape of Divine assistance; passing which, the whole world united shall not prevail against her. Let every child of the Republic learn to live for his God, his land and Union.") With these words the vision vanished, and I started from my seat and felt that I had seen a vision wherein had been shown me the birth, progress, and destiny of the United States.”
