i think noone should be able to "own" any land, everyone should be able to use nature at will without someone´s permission, in a sense it is like owning people

And that is one point I am trying to make. Ask the people of New Orleans if they own the land or if the land owns them.

Yes, in relation to EACH OTHER, we can and do own land.. In a cosmic sense... no, we do not own anything save perhaps the energy that constitutes our consciousness.

But I can assure you all that this young lady who provoked the discussion did not have that in mind.. she was parroting what somebody else had told her without truly comprehending it in relation to human institutions and cosmic scale.

I believe there was a deeper meaning there. NO one owns the land permenantly (?) so in that aspect when you "buy" land you are merely borrowing it for a while. The land was here long before we were, and it´ll be here long after.

take a look at history, 1500 years ago we were the center of the universe, 500 years ago earth was flat, and today god knows how knowledgble we are about everything.

i am just saying what we know today could easily be false for the people living 500 years in the future.

Land ownership will continue to be important as long as there are people who are assholes. Lower human nature necessitates land ownership.

Anybody want to break their butts planting and working a beautiful garden only to have others stroll by and help themselves to all the fruits leaving nothing at all for you? Or waking up in the morning to find somebody has dumped truckloads of junk into your garden and turned it into a refuse dump?

Unless everybody is on the same page (which ain´t happening in our lifetimes) there must be land ownership.

You do not own property in this country. Try not paying the property taxes and find out how fast the state will relieve you of it.

We will always "pay" for the right to be on land. If we don´t pay money and be civil about it, then we´d fight and kill each other for it. For Example. If you didn´t have to pay for land, where would you want to live. Without technology, you´d want to live either on a fresh water lake, or river where there is good farmland and ample protection and space for crops and animals used for food. If everyone wants the same spot, they will fight for it. Buying land with money is Civil.

Animals pay for land with blood. They mark their territories and attack intruders. Intruders want the territory and attack the alpha.

How is this not in anyone´s or any animals nature?
