How come George was outsmarted by a 13-year-old girl last night | |

There has never been a free country that has continued to be free after the people´s right to property was infringed. And exactly how did this female Doogie Howser come to the conclusion that owning "land" is like owning a "person"? |

Also, if we are to view the earth as a living entity.. then it is safe to assume that we are nothing more than a surface nuisance... In which case, does it matter if the flea thinks that it owns the tiny piece of dog it lives on? Does the dog care what the flea thinks? |

I mean no disrespect, as your arguments are well phrased and succinct, but they fall short of total comprehension." Perhaps.. and I mean no disrespect either.. but you may be coloring your view of reality with your emotions as opposed to your knowledge. |

Emotions are a tool to be used. Wisdom is superior to intellect and emotion. (which, incidentally, are equal to one another) |

Sinanju User ID: 33978 United States 10/21/2005 02:45 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | And that is one point I am trying to make. Ask the people of New Orleans if they own the land or if the land owns them. Yes, in relation to EACH OTHER, we can and do own land.. In a cosmic sense... no, we do not own anything save perhaps the energy that constitutes our consciousness. But I can assure you all that this young lady who provoked the discussion did not have that in mind.. she was parroting what somebody else had told her without truly comprehending it in relation to human institutions and cosmic scale. Do not make a parrot out to be Einstein simply because the parrot can mimic E=MC2. (And for the record, all metaphysical mumbo jumbo aside... Americans are free as long as we own our own property.) |

And how do you KNOW that so assuredly? Do you have knowledge or do you not know.... jack... hmm? You seem awful sure of yourself when you declare that we should not be so sure of ourselves. Try this friend, set your feet on the ground for a change. |

NO one owns the land permenantly (?) so in that aspect when you "buy" land you are merely borrowing it for a while. The land was here long before we were, and it´ll be here long after. <Sinanju, you´re starting to sound awfully familiar > Don't argue with idiots, you'll never win! |

Do you have knowledge or do you not know.... jack... hmm?" yes, i know jack about everything, and same goes to everyone. take a look at history, 1500 years ago we were the center of the universe, 500 years ago earth was flat, and today god knows how knowledgble we are about everything. i am just saying what we know today could easily be false for the people living 500 years in the future. and please what you learn in school is something you should take with grain of salt, just use that knowledge for earning money, beyond that its pretty damn useless. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 3160 United States 10/21/2005 03:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Land ownership will continue to be important as long as there are people who are assholes. Lower human nature necessitates land ownership. Anybody want to break their butts planting and working a beautiful garden only to have others stroll by and help themselves to all the fruits leaving nothing at all for you? Or waking up in the morning to find somebody has dumped truckloads of junk into your garden and turned it into a refuse dump? Unless everybody is on the same page (which ain´t happening in our lifetimes) there must be land ownership. |

Wile E. User ID: 16550 United States 10/21/2005 04:11 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | We will always "pay" for the right to be on land. If we don´t pay money and be civil about it, then we´d fight and kill each other for it. For Example. If you didn´t have to pay for land, where would you want to live. Without technology, you´d want to live either on a fresh water lake, or river where there is good farmland and ample protection and space for crops and animals used for food. If everyone wants the same spot, they will fight for it. Buying land with money is Civil. Animals pay for land with blood. They mark their territories and attack intruders. Intruders want the territory and attack the alpha. How is this not in anyone´s or any animals nature? |
