When I had my break at work at 11:30 the moon was huge, yellow, big glow and down near the horizon. About 1:30 I noticed it was way up in the sky, about an inch over from it was, glowing white. Its now 2:30 and its moved another 2 itches, but is much clearer and brighter, even slightly bigger. Quoting: DMTHC Probably normal as I don't know much about the moon. Someone care to explain? So, the moon rises, moves across the sky, and then sets. Maybe if you could explain what you think is confusing we could try to explain. Currently, for Melbourne, moonrise is 23:45 and moonset is 10:07, although I may have got that wrong by an hour converting time zones... |

The confusion was more so about its varying distance. i.e how it jumped from so close to less then a quarter of the size then back up to around a quarter of the size. I realize its probably something to do with its orbit, Just never realized it jumping about so much (distance from us wise) Let me let you in on a little secrete of mine, as far as god goes I don't believe in your kind- I think we all god just gotter look deeper inside, that's probably what your bible means by you seek and you find. |

I realize its probably something to do with its orbit, Just never realized it jumping about so much (distance from us wise) It doesn't - it's an optical illusion that makes it look bigger when it's near the horizon. You can check that it's the same size by finding an object, maybe a coin, that just covers the moon when held at arms length. It'll be exactly covering the moon whether it's low in the sky, looking huge, or high in the sky looking small... |
