Within a 200 mile radius Me too....cept for a year in Seattle. I wouldn't leave. I just hope we don't have more "Juareses" springing up all over.

The majority of people who have been waking up, are thinking they will bug out, which is almost always a bad idea. Look for the link I posted on Last minute help for Parents when the SHTF for a long post on why bugging out is a BAD IDEA. Basically if everyone is bugging out, it means lots of people with very low levels (72 hour bug out bags) of supplies. That means a lot of desperate nomads. Very bad indeed.

Bugging in means prepping a very large stash and lots of careful consideration about what might realistically be needed for a set period of time. That can be scaled up or down based upon risk factors.

Regardless, I think that the OP is to be commended for posting. The way I think as a prepper is that the more people who are prepared, the less zombies I need to worry about.

Either way, if government folks start prepping en mass, then we can expect to see them in the grocery and discount food stores and recognize that kind of storing behavior. Either way prepping ends up saving you money as food has been seriously going up in price and food packages have been shrinking over the last year and a half. Buy only things that you might realistically need, but read up as much as possible on old pioneer skills that might come in handy, both to preserve your family, as well as a skill to barter.

GLP people who prep and know skills could actually become community leaders in their neighborhood, and help save a lot of people, if they have the foresight and ability to communicate pragmatic (and not kooky) ways to deal with any shortfall in supplies or severe loss of income if the economy tanks further.
