I don't know how this sht is going to go down. Right now, living quite a ways from the border, I have to deal with Mexican drivers in my area that are drunk everytime I get on the road around here. They are farm laborers and I guess with the war and everything going on in their own country, they don't enforce drinking and driving laws. Of course, we carry insurance in case they total and are maim us for life.

Some year or so ago, I posted about a prison in Texas that someone I knew was doing construction work at. Security in and security out as he went to work everyday. It was in a town north of Austin, seems like it started with an L. I don't think it was some mystery about what was going on there. But I was told they were taking out bars and putting in carpet, and playground equipment there.

I don't think this thing is going to go down like we think. Perhaps the invasion will be complete when they declare war in Mexico, citizen's there begin to seek refugee status, Catholic Charities and all the other 501-c government temples that have been set up to do the governments bidding, will be waiting with open arms to make sure their government money is utilized to set these people up as residents with ready made empty houses and schools waiting to be opened as all the pre planning has already been done. The prison I mentioned, is probably a holding area, or future school, who knows.

The only reason I can think there might be food storage involved is the government is going to need all the food it can get its hands on to distribute from its Wal Mart pre built food distribution centers to feed the masses of needy and unless you, as a citizen, want to stand in line all day, and probably you won't even qualify for food hand outs since you are a citizen, you better be prepared to do without out.

A Haiti earthquake in Mexico City will also move the refugees to a safer haven, if it is not a declaration of war that does it. Stupid Mexico City, built on a sinking lake bed with what? Twenty six million people, should get the pace picked up. I guess the border patrol will man the church busses?

I don't think that Mexico has much to do with it, but I can see why people think so. If things are bad in the USA, I can't imagine Mexicanos crossing over, especially since there's a major drought going on, and fewer jobs for them now with construction being so off as well as service jobs.

That said, I have read many alternative news articles about private concerns about an influx of Mexicans due to economic collapse. It may hit Mexico far worse, and they might head North.

Regardless, it's more important to prep than to guess as to the reasons why, or try to play out the scenario, as it will of course be a dynamic one.

Local variables like a border are an important aspect to prepping adequately. Imagine this: many people cross a river or state border in order to go to work. If the SHTF, then we can expect limitations on roadways, rail, and ships, all of which will affect out preps. People could get trapped out of state if say the Governor of that state closes the roads to limit an influx of refugees.

The worst areas will always be the highly dense metro areas. The Northeast is very bad, as well as the Atlantic seaboard. Those folks will head South and West. South to a warmer climate, and West to lower population density. In both cases by highways. We could expect people to run out of gas in 200-300 mile radii from metro areas. This will be a lot of refugee folks with 72 hours of supplies, but without great ways to carry them. That means robberies and violence and smaller towns closing off exits to limit entrance.

Those kinds of things worry me far more, and are much more likely with a collapse, then worrying about Mexico.

My hubby and those who are in his profession try the damned best to protect our borders. Yes some get through and some don't. Most folks aren't even aware of what goes on at our borders. It's always shit like "well why aren't they doing more", etc, etc.
