Post Your Best GINGER-ALE Recipes! Any Neat Ways To Make It FIZZY?(Free recipe inside already!)
O.K. First of all,I'm going to submit the first ginger beer/root beer recipe MYSELF!
It does work quite well in terms of fizziness and taste.....I recommend it — especially now that the winter weather has begun....

NOTE:It HAS to be said that you should NEVER use glass bottles to make ginger-ale folks as quite a significant ammount of pressure is produced as the fermntation process kicks-in and the resulting build-up of gas HAS been known to cause glass bottles being used to EXPLODE so ONLY USE PLASTIC SODA-POP BOTTLES PLEASE!!! THANKS!

p.s. Just incase some smart-alec comes on and asks "what does GINGER-ALE have to do with a conspiracy forum?" — which,by the way folks, has been known to happen on a variety of threads and,I'm sure,WILL happen again...I am herebye going to Christen this recipe....:"Intel-Nut beer"!
PLEASE MAKE,DRINK,KEEP YOURSELVES WARM,AND ENJOY! (WITHIN LIMIT....AND NOT WHEN YOU'RE DRIVING!!!!) THANKS PEOPLE!

Recipe:

"Intel-Nut Beer" — Recipe is for a 1.5 Litre plastic bottle.

•2 tablespoons of warm water
•½ a teaspoon of sugar
•¼ of a teaspoon of dried yeast granules(I use bread-making yeast in small saches)
•1 cup of sugar (exactly half a pint)
•Juice of two lemons
•Rind of two lemons
•1 tablespoon of dried ginger powder (FRESHLY-grated ginger root CAN be used instead).

METHOD:Put FIRST measure of sugar in your warm water to dissolve, add yeast and stir.Place somewhere warm for the sugar-yeast solution to start working.
Finely grate or slice the rinds from two lemons and place in a heatproof container with the 1 cup of sugar and the dried ginger/grated ginger.Over that pour 1 cup of boiling water and leave to steep for 10 minutes.Strain into a 1.5 Litre plastic bottle in which the ginger beer will be made.Top up with cool water to near top so that final temp is approximately body temperature.Add the sugar-yeast solution to same bottle once it shows signs of working,i.e.it foams. Then cap bottle tightly.Shake the bottle thouroughly (approx.1 minute) and then put in a WARM place where your mixture will be able to turn into yummy, fizzy, warming, seasonal beverage GREAT for this time of the year!

LEAVE UN-OPENED UNTILL BOTTLE BECOMES UNDENTABLE — the harder the bottle becomes the better the beer AND the FIZZIER!

Depending on the yeast used this can take anything from between twelve hours to three days so PLEASE be patient. It is advisable to keep an eye on the mixture as it progresses towards maturity as it has been known to happen that,SOMETIMES,a small number of bottles WILL inevitably EXPLODE...
Folks,if you ask me,that's what makes this recipe all-the-more exciting!!!!!!!

Once your bottle becomes too hard to be squeezed (usually by the end of the third day) place it in your fridge to become chilled.
You'll LOVE ginger's natural, herbal abillity to warm you up on these cold wintry days.ENJOY!

*****REMEMBER FOLKS,THIS IS GLP,SO TAKE CARE WHEN OPENING THE BOTTLE!!!!!!!*****

By the way, I copied and pasted your recipe for later. That's a lot of sugar! I guess that would explain why I get such a rush when I drink organic soda. Non-organic soda likely uses a sugar substitute.

"Hey hey,my my...into the ginger!!!"

Thanks for taking the time to view this quaint old beer-thread guys.Appreciated!

Yeah,I noticed that too today as I was typing the ingredients list out; you need a LOT of sugar! Why not cheat a little and make a "diabetics version" with, say, only half the ammount recommended on the list.....? I know I probably will,I prefer to keep my sugar-intake at as less as possible.
Don't be one of those poor fools though that opts for ASPARTAME or ANY artifficial sweetener — that stuff is POISON folks,DON'T BUY IT!!!!!!!

FACT:Sugar will NEVER kill you if eaten in moderation whereas artificial sweetener will start killing you the moment you put it in your mouth.....!!!!

CORRECTION:In case some of you might have been left a bit confused by the fact that I didn't mention when you add the lemon juice, well, the recipe that I had in my possesion had actually missed that bit out itself, not me! If you want to try it WITH lemon then I recommend you add it with the 'dry ingredients' that you put in the container with the bulk of the boiling water.
DON'T add the lemon juice to the sugar-yeast solution though PLEASE!!! as this will RUIN EVERYTHING for you folks!

Indeed it does sir, indeed it does.

Don't worry though if you're some kind of uber-elite religionist-type,it wont get you drunk if drank in moderation though.

You said ginger beer in the title, when i was young, about 11 or so I used to walk to a small store and get something called "ginger beer" it was spicy, really spicy.

Got a recipe for that? They don't make it anymore or sell it one or the other and I loved it. It was made by dr browns I think.

A half glass of Ginger-Ale with a teaspoon of baking soda, cures food poisoning pain or Autoimmunity pain. Let it finish fizzing then drink.

Per 1 pint flip-top bottle or plastic bottle:

48 granules of champagne yeast
1 tsp to 1 tbsp sugar (highly fermentable sugar including corn sugar, white sugar, agave syrup)
1 juice of freshly squeezed lemon
2 tsp of fresh ginger juice
non-tap water to fill (chlorine and flouride destroys fermentation)

Add all ingredients except the yeast into container. Drop yeast lastly and give a little shake to the closed container. Keep in room temperature for two days. About twice a day you want to release the pressure that builds within the container. At 3 days you can chill it to kill off the fermentation. The alcohol is still left.

Interesting! Are you sure though that those stomache pains are caused by "autoimmunity"????

My advice to people on GLP that have been suffering chronic stomache pains for a long time is:

•STOP eating non-kosher meat such as pork, sea food etc.(I am not a jewish).
•Change your diet FOREVER and start 'FOOD COMBINING' I eat that way,it's co and gets EASIER with time!(If you don't suffer DON'T food combine).

Ginger beer is yummy... Another way to tell if it is ready, is to put a sultana or raisin in the bottle. When the raisin has risen to the top of the bottle it is ready to drink.. ;-)

Super cute INDEED MRS gardener! "Do they last???" well,as a lover of horticulture (wake up data-miners...) MYSELF I would say it ALL depends on how much effort YOU put into caring for them.....
I'm sure you most probably know but for the sake of our other readers on GLP I will say seeing as though these are intended for INDOOR decoration/arrangement you should treat them to a couple of hours of DIRECT outdoors(weaker winter sun only, dappled sun in summer!!) sunlight every two days REMEMBERING TO REMOVE TOP HALF OF CASE/BALL to prevent suffocation-type accidents!!! re-closing casing once brought back indoors.
Water ONLY when plants look somewhat wilted with WELL or good quallity FILTER water ONLY,don't trust tap water!!!

Enjoy your gardening folks.

Any more tips would be much appreciated,THANKS!!!

Easy Ginger Soda

1-2 TBS of fresh ground ginger in a 2 liter of your favorite lemon/lime soda.

1) Open - poor a little out because it will fizz when ginger is added
2) Put fresh ginger in, seal with cap quickly.
3) Place in fridge for a day.

Taste almost as good as those expensive micro-ginger beers and you can make it as spicy as you want.

I MUST also add that you must NEVER let your plants become waterlogged folks!
TIP:ONLY water your plants when they look somewhat wilted!
When they DO need watering ALWAYS REMOVE EXCESS water that the plants didn't absorb about an hour later or when you see that your plants are back to their normal firm-looking ways!
