Target shooting does nearly nothing to prepare people for a real gun fight. His missing had nothing to do with not being a good aimer, he missed because he is not a good gun fighter.

He missed because when people get shot at, they do not stand there like a paper target and let you line up your sights for a perfect shot. Gun fights are dynamic, motion filled events that is not replicated with "target practice".

The reason most police and citizens miss in real gun fights is because the majority of American shooting, training and written material on the subject is utter and complete bullshit and a waist of time, money and ammo.

This guy is probably a really good shot, his security camera system, the fact he was armed in his own home and the fact his shots on the windshield showed plenty of combat effective accuracy tell me was trained.

His issue was improper training on what happens in a real gun fight, poor use of cover and on and on.

He still kicked ass and did better than most would have.

When it comes to being in a firefight, here's what it comes down to.

"You will NOT 'rise to the occasion' like some movie or video game. You will FALL to your level of training, and I'm not talking about going out to the range and hitting a piece of paper.

These 4 upstanding young men are illegals. That means that they did not follow any laws to aquire those weapons that they had. Not to mention at least two of the guns I saw in the video, did not look all to legal themselves. Strict gun control would just have made it more likely that the homeowner would not have been armed, and when unarmed against 4 armed, well you do the math. Or is that controlled in cananda too?

Near the end of the video, you can see him coming out into the open chasing the attackers, since one of them has an AR 15 rifle, that is a bad idea, since that gun can effectively return fire from 2 blocks down the road.

Again, the reason the majority of shots in Domestic US shootings by police or citizens miss is not because "shooting skill diminish 50%".

Its because the shooters skills for actual gun fights is only 50% as effective as they thought it was.

Even if you are 100% effective at what you are training, if what you are training is not effective in actual combat, you will not perform well, that is the issue.

Like I posted, he kicked ass, but the numbers don't lie. The majority of shots fired in the US MISS the intended target. That is a training issue and those numbers, by default, prove the training that is mainstream and accepted is effective less than 50% of the time in actual application.

That is unacceptable to me, as a trainer, and my students who have been in gun fights are shooting at nearly a 90% shots to hits ratio.
