Well, I'm having a pretty hard time of things these days and I am in a new country and I too have a son who is nine years old. I'm about to move into a homeless shelter here in Canada because I can't find a job.

How do we get the money?

Shall we prove our pathetic circumstances enough to warrant your pity? Or do we have to send you one of our kidneys...because to be perfectly honest Mr. Murphy...I find that five thousand bucks is just not enough money...I mean, you know, like not for a kidney. Now if you were to say fifty thousand...well, I mean, I don't think I would sell you one of my kidneys for that price either, but I think it would be far more reasonable of you to offer 50 grand for a kidney than 5...right?

This is a post I have added on twitter asking for help myself. So, what do I have to lose right?

I am asking for help from all or some of you for myself and my family. I have never been one to do something like this at all. I never thought I would have too. We have had financial issues just as we all run ito throughout the years, but we have also always made it work or found a way to make things work out. I have had to stop working back in July due to many medical issues that have just progressed over the years. My husband is the only one carrying the burden of all of the financial responsibilities now. This in itself is not only very difficult to do with a family of 6 people, but it is not even fair at the same time. I have filed for disability, but little did I know, it is going to take a very long time to really get any answers on it. Up to a year and a half. Honest to god, I don't quite know how single people with kids can pull this off. I have already had to go to the township trustee for our electric bill to be paid before getting shut off, I have had my bank account frozen once already from debt collectors for the amount of medical bills I have incurred over the years, mind you, I called these creditors the day I stopped working to let them know I could no longer make the full payments because of lack of income now and that I filed for the disability. They were very understanding, during that call, and requested proof which I sent them immediately showing that I did in fact file. This was going to hold them off for a while, at least this was my understanding. Within the month, they froze my only account, and my daughters account, since she was underage my name was on it. This was devastating to me. My husband had just put his check in there and all of it was already called for to cover some bills. We are dipping into paychecks 1-2 weeks ahead of ourselves just to keep utilities on at this point. There are also 3 judgements that are pending on a court date Jan. 4th for another garnishment to come out of my husbands check because of my medical debt. This is just going to be another let down. Less income, more bills. They take 25% each time until it is paid for. Anyway, this is mainly why I am here. I cannot even put gas in my car, or get groceries once a week without putting off a bill and risking a shut off, let alone even start to purchase any gifts for our 4 kids yet. Everytime I think about it, I just cry anymore. It is so disappointing and very depressing knowing I am not going to be able to get them anything. We have never been this low before, and I dont know what else to do so I am here now asking (begging) for whatever financial help I can get. And to think there is only 10 days left til Christmas and I have absolutely Nothing under the tree. Only another year to go before my day in front of the Disability team, WOW, how in the world is this even going to be possible? So unfair when you know that youre good people and have always helped others out throughout your entire life anytime you could, have taken very good care of your kids, love, honor, and respected my husband for the past 16 years of our marriage, and it ends up in this sort of situation. I just need some light at the end of the tunnel. Please, Please, Please......I am desperate to make this work out for the sake of my family. I thank you every single of you from the bottom of my heart for reading my depressing post. I know and understand that there are a lot of worse situations out there than mine especially with what has just happened to all of those poor innocent children that were cut short of their lives and the parents of those children. My heart absolutely goes out the each one of those families, and I wish you all a very Merry Christmas.

Not for me, my daughter is embarking January 8th on an 11 month missionary journey. I'm 38, married with an incurable, chronic disease that has not seen remission in over three years which is unusual for this disease. The local doctors in my area have given up on my care and referred me to hospice, which I was on for a while. In the meanwhile I lobbied insurance company to approve treatment at UCLA medical center where they deal with stem cells. At first, second, and a few more times it was denied so I stayed on hospice. Well now it's approved but since we live in another state the travel has been a big strain financially on our family. There's two doctors I need to see. One only sees patients on mondays and the other only on thursdays (Because they are both department heads as well as doctors). It's getting tough to keep physically good enough to make the trip. To be able to afford a hotel and perhaps plane tickets once a month for a few months would take a heavy emotional load off me and my family while we see if stem cells will cure me and then I can go back to work and lead a semi-normal life again.

Sounds to me like you just want people to grovel. I'm sure there are many people in your area that could use $5000. Get out and look around. Go to the grocery store, see who's getting balonga instead of a turkey or ham. Look at people in your area.
