Sadly I have read a lot of abusive responses to this post.
Now I have no idea whether you are really a millionaire giving a gift of money to some need y soul. You could be simply running an ex[eriment to see what kinds of responses you'll get. it's not for me to judge, merely to respond to your question.
I am a grandmother with a grand child in the foster care system. I would like to petition for custody, as I fear he may become lost in the system, lost to me forever, and I lost to him forever.
But I live in a one bedroom highrise apartment and I am wheelchair dependant, living on a small, fixed income. Because of this the department of children's services has deemed me unable to take custody. my doctor refutes their clam that my medical condition would preclude me from being able to care for him, but they also site the size of my home as a deterrant. I would love to find a two bedroom house or apartment that is both wheelchair accessable and affordable, but low income housing choice grants are nearly impossible to obtain.
so why do I deserve $5000? Because I love deeply and would give wholeheartedly to tis child who is about to lose everything familiar to him.

I am 18 years old. As a child, I knew nothing but control, punishment, isolation, and sorrow, inflicted by my abusive family. I was empty and emotionless until the age of 11 when I discovered spirituality, hope, and love. Against all odds, I was able to formulate a worldview that diverged from my conditioning. At last, I had a childhood, though it was late. It was beautiful, but it couldn't last.

What followed was a total crackdown intended to crush my heresy. I was cut off from the outside world and I thought it was only a matter of time before they would win me over through sheer repetition and programming. When I was 14, I stood at the edge of a building, ready to die as myself, unchanged, instead of losing my soul. Then it hit me that if I jumped, I would be making a statement that the human spirit is malleable and there is no transcendent truth in who we are. If that was true, it would all be pointless.

I decided to try to resist and survive until I had the opportunity to escape. I decided never to contemplate suicide again, to instead devote my life to fighting injustice all over the world, so that others may keep the innocence I lost. I did survive, and I escaped 4 years later. During those 4 years of despair and struggle, I snuck onto the Internet to sustain my hope. I met wonderful people online, who later welcomed me into the outside world, thanks to forums like this, where people dared to believe in a lost cause like me.

The Internet is the only free place in the world right now, but a crackdown is on it's way. People think the Internet is theirs and that censorship is impossible. Unfortunately, the cold, hard, scientific truth is that censorship is difficult to push through politically, but easy to implement physically. Whether it's gradualism or outright martial law that brings it on, it will happen. Although there are many smaller ISPs, they all ultimately answer to approximately 7 large corporations ( [link to computer.howstuffworks.com] who can easily be coerced into enforcing censorship.

I have designs for a communications network that performs the same function as the Internet but is 100% decentralized. Collective information is stored in the background processers of people's individual devices, accessed by wireless signals that bounce from private device to private device to get to their ultimate destination. It's basically a P2P network that does not depend on the regular Internet. It will be free of charge by nature, except to buy the hardware. Although it will start with a corporation, it will impossible for any company to control it in the long run. It will be physically impossible to censor unless 92% of people's individual devices are confiscated or destroyed, so hopefully at least 8% will refuse to hand them over...

I want to start my company and work out the details of my designs with specialists from various fields. I want to get into the Thiel Fellowship ( [link to www.thielfellowship.org] and get a $100,000 grant, and/or use Crowdfunding. The problem is, I need to involve some experts, work out the details of the design, and have a stunning presentation video and website made that will prove to the Fellowship and Crowdfunding that I am dedicated and professional. $5,000 would be just enough to get this off the ground.

I have been trying so hard to find a job, but because of my past circumstance, I have few qualifications. I have been praying for the small amount of funding I need to get started and looking for some kind of a miracle, since this is the last year I'll be young enough to apply for the Thiel Fellowship. My friend even bought me a lottery ticket to cheer me up, and I almost got scammed by a Nigerian offering me $50,000 last month--that's how much I need the money. :{

I am determined to save the Interwebs before it's too late and I believe this is my destiny--that this is the reason God/the Universe/Fate stopped me from falling over that edge. I want to have a company because then I will have the funding I need to rescue people in situations like mine and support many anti-authoritarian causes.

Not that I don't... it's just that I know there are a whole lot of people who need it more than I do.

Simply put I want my kids see me set a bar for them to be success, I haven't done much but to make them proud of me going back to school and finishing, making my wife as well proud, and with this I also want to start a non-profit organization that will help low income homes get a part of the American dream of homeownership, in the city there are a lot of vacant lots, abandoned buildings that need to be repaired, just because they nieborhood is low income doesn't mean it has to look that way, I also want to start programs that will teach kids at a very young age a skill, or to cultivate what the already have, gather teacher that has the heart to push kids in the right direction, and I know, you might be saying all of this with 5,000 yes it only opens the door and sir/madam I would love the opportunity.

I drive alot - and miss my Subaru wrx turbo imprezza greatly... and the stereo even more... yes it was on the repo list, and yes = at the last minute I reended a honda (which was Parked, engine off in the street ...ah well)

I like Subaru Foresters - but I will not ever afford one again (in time)... I wish (and had before) absolute reliability in a car so I can get to my dad in the case of medical emergencies which are many. also when the shitstorm is coming at me fullforce, and the man is trying to grab control of the wheel, DBW can be a very good thing)

I can live without a nice car, and will - it's not an emergency, like many other things in my current situation - but it would make me so happy, especially so I can leave the ford here at the house.

if you have done some research on me - You would know that I;m not all that happy with the current world, and that I adhere to a 'scorch the earth' approach dealing with terrorism... so there is that.

To be honest, you shouldn't give it to me. I would probably waste it by spending it on things like bills, food, medical needs, my grandchildren.
