The kind that I would really get concerned about. That will happen sometime in the future, like during Katrina. But this seems to be a situation where the the State of La. is considering using it's own State NG force to help law enforcement. I'm not saying it's good, but at least it's local NG and State directed. “In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. Rated top 5 is crap - those are all marketing tools. For instance,....rated top 5 by who? Drunks? Ok,...maybe. I went to LSU and lived in S. Louisiana for years and woreked in New Orleans quite a bit. The place IS a shithole. Keep kidding yourself that you live in some great "tourist attraction". It's bullshit hype. Louisiana in general is the most racist state I've ever lived in - and that goes both ways. ^THIS^ :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

Yes, that is how it is supposed to work. However, if the Federal government comes in and says that they are going to send NG troops from wherever say, and the Governor agrees (doesn't say no), etc., then that's what will happen. That's sort of what happen during Katrina because it was considered a State of Emergency, and a "National Disaster" and nobody questioned the semantics. “In the beginning of a change, the Patriot is a scarce man, Brave, Hated, and Scorned. Life's-A-Bitch User ID: 1243271 United States 12/20/2011 10:06 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The poverty and lack of jobs for young black men is astounding in NOLA. New Orleans before Katrina used to have trade schools for the kids that weren't college bound - none of them were rebuilt after Katrina. There has also been little to no PTSD trauma healing for the children that went through the hurricane and witnessing people dying in the streets after the storm - many of these kids are now teens and in their 20's killin each other. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 7320971 There has also been in my opinion, a concerted effort to gentrify NEW ORLEANS - I call it the Disneyfication of NOLA. There are still houses ungutted since Katrina! There has been an ongoing effort since Katrina to break up the African American community and gentrify the city. Does it help that these young men are killing each other and the children - NO! And I can tell you first hand after living in New Orleans 7th Ward, as a volunteer from 2007 to 2011 that there is so much social injustice and unfair practices against the African American community. The young people don't care anymore - they seem to have a death wish as a means to escape living hell - many will tell you they don't believe they will survive past 25. The National Guard was here after Katrina and they are bringing them back - cause working with the people and helpin the people - the African American community - is not on the agenda. It is so sad. So many good families, good people here. Their kids have given up and are killin each other. Soldiers ain't gonna heal that wound. They arent there yet. odinson222 A Man Has Got to Know His Limitations I am just a sinner trying to make it to heaven! Romans 8:35-39 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or peril, or sword? As it is written, For thy sake we are killed all the day long; we are accounted as sheep for the slaughter. Nay, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him that loved us. For I am persuaded, that neither death, nor life, nor angels, nor principalities, nor powers, nor things present, nor things to come, Nor height, nor depth, nor any other creature, shall be able to separate us from the love of God, which is in Christ Jesus our Lord. |

OneLOVE 504soulJAH my cred: postkatrina.2007.blogspot.com Its no secret that the U.S. Government isn't going to help anyone except Wall Street. so why are the blacks down there still counting on them? There are rich black people all over this country, why don't they get down there and help or at least send their money down there to help "their brothers". The truth is the rich blacks don't care what happens to other black so forget about them also. They need to organize...get of their fat asses and fix their community. Of course expecting them to fix it themselves is a joke in itself. Only the Asians seem to be smart enough to do that. . . |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 7320971 United States 12/21/2011 10:13 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Keep people poor and uneducated so that there is no critical thinking from the masses. No Waldorf schools for the poor - most of the schools after Katrina in the African American communities were not reopened. Keep people oppressed, poor and uneducated and then blame them for it. And the hatred I am reading in regards to my reply post is astounding. Divide and conquer - keep the people oppressed and killing each other. Keep nation against nation - yes the racism in New Orleans is intense - both sides - its historic and there is much pain that has been born by the Africans brought here as slaves. There are elderly people still alive whose grandparents were slaves. The pain is real and relevant and still being acted out within the societal structures of New Orleans. This is about those in power seeking to keep power at any costs. And to my first nations icon detractor (desert fox) - if you really held the spirit of the first nations peoples in your heart then you would overstand the oppression of the African Americans in America.
