Symptoms Similar To Radiation Poisoning Killing Seals/Walruses - Russia, Alaska, Canada - Scientists Fear Could Be Infecting Entire Ocean

"The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration declared a recent rash of seal deaths to be an "unusual mortality event" on Tuesday. More than 60 seals have died and 75 found diseased in Alaska with skin sores and patchy hair loss. The Fish and Wildlife Service has also identified diseased and dead walruses."

"In most cases, necropsies and lab tests have revealed skin lesions, fluid in the lungs, white spots on the liver, and abnormal growths in the brain. Some of the seals and walruses have undersized lymph nodes, possibly a sign of weakened immuned systems."

[link to hisz.rsoe.hu]

"A mysterious and potentially widespread disease is thought to have contributed to the deaths of dozens of ringed seals along Alaska's Arctic coast. Scores more are sickened, some so ill that skin lesions bleed when touched. The animals are an important subsistence food, and the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration has proposed listing them as threatened or endangered under the Endangered Species Act."

""Right now we're leaning toward it being a virus, and that could weaken their immune system,""

"Reports of nearly 150 other seals with the illness have come in from villages outside Barrow, population 4,200, as well as from Chukotka, Russia, and Tuktoyuktak, a village on the northwestern corner of Canada, Herreman said."

"He's concerned the illness will spread up the food chain, affecting other animals and hunters near Kotzebue Sound."

""I'm scared they might pass it on one way or another and the whole ocean could be affected," Shiedt said. Folks in the Barrow region also are worried. Many of the Slope's Inupiat residents are about to begin hunting for seals, and some are wondering if they are safe to eat, Herreman said."

"The sickest ones don't move much on the beaches and they have blisters or wounds that bleed easily, including around the nose, eyes and especially the rear flippers. Others have lost much of their hair. "They're not deathly skinny. It's not like they're dying from malnutrition."

This is so scary. We see the animals being effected first. They don't have an escape. They can't avoid eating radiated food, swimming through radiated water, etc. And...it would make sense that the seals would get noticed first simply because they consume such large amounts of radiated foods.

It won't be long, in my opinion, that we end up seeing many more animals effected...of all types and species.

It makes me wonder about this topic too. My thread Thread: Scientists In Shock At Amount Of Methane Gas Being Released In Arctic - Give Dire Warning discussed the fact that methane may end up injuring animals. I wasn't expecting to see things occur this fast from it though...if in fact it is related.

Anybody know what methane will do to the body? I thought it would just lead to suffocation? Not disease and such. But, I guess if you're running out of oxygen over time, you would slowly and surely succomb to things your body would otherwise fight off.

Reading more on this last night...this is the first time in a very long time that seals/walruses have died in vast numbers, this far north. Apparently the frigid waters of the north help keep certain bacterias and diseases from growing/getting worse. For something to have broken through that natural protection, it must be very powerful.

People are worried about what "doom" or "apocalyptic event" is going to happen that will reset the planet, or destroy it completely...but I think Fukushima got the ball rolling.

If all ocean species die off suddenly, we're looking at a complete collapse of the marine ecosystem. It's called an Anoxic event, and apparently Fukushima is one.

I think we're looking at a shutdown of ecosystems, a butterfly effect, if you will.

On top of that...it feels like spring here in Boston today. Right now the temperature outside is about 55 degrees and feels like 60. That is ridiculous. We have had ONE storm, a nor'easter in OCTOBER. I believe that it will stay warm on and off for awhile, and then suddenly without warning we are going to get SLAMMED. I think New England is looking at one of the worst winters for blizzards in a very long time. Food and fuel trucks will probably have difficulty making deliveries and people are going to panic. It's gonna get messy.

Anybody else have thoughts on these subjects.

Great synopsis. If you look at the forecasts that have been made by multiple scientists for the next three months they show that the U.S. East Coast is going to have a fairly mild winter. They're saying that the midwest into the Northern mountain ranges are going to be extremely cold with lots of snow fall. The West Coast is also set to be very cold, but not as much snow probably.

This will also effect the food stability of many natives that live along the Alaskan and Canadian coast. Many natives depend on that food...if it's ruled to be unsanitary to eat...what will they do?

Russian may also have some vested interest in these seals.

surprise.. we are killing our planet.. been doing so before radiation leaks in the ocean.. how about the pile of trash floating around in the ocean? how about the acid rain that falls into the ocean from industrial facilities. how about the toxic waste dumped in rivers that flow to the ocean. this is nothing new and shouldnt surprise anyone.. we dont deserve this planet. humans are a cancer on this planet.

Thanks for the pin...

These signs are something we just cannot ignore. The animals first...humans second. There have been a bunch of other reported die offs recently in other locations as well. Tomorrow I'll post some of them. Perhaps we will be able to see some similarities? Maybe a connection somewhere?

The lesions on sea mammals have been reported world wide, including the Atlantic arctic regions. I believe it is Solar radiation leaking though a failing magnetosphere and increased UV output from the Sun,personally. I know Fukashima released a large amount of radioactive material into the ocean, but you have to consider the vastness of the ocean and how diluted it would be when it reached Alaska, not enough to cause this I am afraid.

What do you get when you cross corexit with fukishima radiation spillage?...

The answer my friend is blowing in the wind, and floating in the water.

Unless of course, the sea itself can negate these effects, but add methane into the mix and could it be a factor in the deaths of the sea babies?...

Not too long ago 3 killer whales swam up the Nushagak river in SW Alaska, that had never happened, all the elders thought it was a very bad sign. All 3 ended up banking on the shores and died, one was a pregnant female.

I lived out there till not too long ago, some of us are having health problems including nausea and suspicious blood work results. Also tired all the time.
