You know, what is NOT covered, is that after the Nagasaki and Hiroshima bombings, those not killed actually recovered quite well in due time. On an off-note, I had this problem with my pinky nails while on dialysis due to fungal infection under the nail. Guess I had a weak immunity at the time. My lupus allows a lot of things to get to me that others fight off. Anyway, I had full recovery using tea tree oil under the nail (applied regularly with a cotton swab).

It's a shame they don't have more access to simple, alternative medicine ideas to combat the radiation effects and damage. I've seen some good ones online. I feel sorry for all the pain, suffering and anxiety the Japanese people are experiencing. The world is interconnected; and we here in the US are not immune from the results of the instability, destruction, intolerance and hatred happening elsewhere.
