You Americans have a lot of strange doctrines connected with Jesus Christ. Some of you say that God came down as Jesus; Jesus is the Almighty God. Now you say that the Father is not important; that the gospel is all about worshiping Jesus. And many of you Americans expect jewish people to believe in Jesus through all these your strange doctrines.

In reality the gospel is all about mankind getting back to God. Mankind was thrown out of the presence of God through Adam. Jesus came as a new Adam through whom mankind can go back to God. God is the (hidden) treasure; Jesus Christ is the vehicle that conveys a human being to the treasure.
 Quoting: Agent of Light

Nigeria...I have NEVER heard this message before that you're responding too. Any Christian that forgets the Father has NO UNDERSTANDING of God's unrelenting grace. That person can NEVER fully appreciate Christ's sacrifice because it was the Father that ordained each man in history from creation until Mary and Joseph to fill their role in leading to a Messiah.

Being able to stand face to face with God the Father at the end of this life, is said to be the most important goal of all mankind. That message is from Jesus Christ Himself. How could we possibly say that Christ is more important than the Father? They're one in the same!

 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4545733

NOPE. If you don't believe in Jesus then you believe in nothing at all.
If you believe in nothing then what makes you think that you will be held accountable for your actions in this life ever? You might as well go out and kill everyone you can because you would never be held accountable for anything you ever did.
BUT weather you want to admit or not you all know in your heart that you WILL be held accountable to God when you die

Merry Christmas to all!

Yesterday at 4 pm we went to xmas eve mass, and it was soooo packed, there were people lining the walls!

We stood at the back of the church. It's a long mass when you have to stand!

Re: Following Jesus - In His Own Words
Do you really believe that LOVE can be commanded, and still be valid?

Love commanded is love destroyed.

Is it not possible to love another without 'accepting' this jesus character?

I'm crying here, will you cry with me? Or will you point me to religion and blame me for my tears?

Without this command, would you still love?

Is it not possible to tell another that you love them without interjecting the bible?

Have you ever questioned any of this?

Have you ever known suffering?

Or have you been 'saved' from suffering and become an expert on how to not suffer?

My bible says that Jesus suffered......and to identify with him is to also suffer.

Religion crucified me, Lisa. Religion will crucify all who believe literally in the letter of this book.

Don't love me because you are commanded, love me because it's the only thing you can do.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 4545733

This kind of love the bible refers to....is more of a commitment to one another just because we are all part of the human family. To love as responsible for one another. When you see a person in need, you help them. When you see a person who is in emotional pain, you listen to them. In prison, you visit them. When naked, you clothe them. When they are sick, you care for them. Lonely, you call or visit them. When they are hungry, you feed them. You show them compassion and respect without expecting anything in return, because one day you may be vulnerable yourself and in the same situation and will need someone to give lovingly to you. In doing this, you are fulfilling what Jesus asked....

Yes. Words in today's language are not as direct as words back then. So the word "believe" means anything somebody wants. Typically a Gnostic thought faith that says, "If you think he died and rose again you are guaranteed in baby!"
But the word "believe" is more associated with trust, obey, follow, and of course faith.

True faith saves. Trusting His ways are better than ours.

False faith is evident, you'll depend on what you think is right to be right.. or your pastor, and hope a thought will save you. (christianity)

Re: Following Jesus - In His Own Words
Jesus' name is the most powerful name in the Universe, no doubt about it. Those 3 commandments Jesus gave us are the most immportant and simple yet so many people struggle with them.Jesus has thrown me a rope so many times when I've been in horrific situations. My wish this Christmas for everyone else is that they come to realise that Jesus/God is LOVE. Great thread Lisa !!! Merry Christmas from me to you ! You have brought much JOY to GLP and your threads are always uplifting and filled with Lovehf
 Quoting: Lion of Judah

If the name is the most powerful name and the J in the English language did not exist untill the 16th century. Don't you think you should find out what the most powerful name really is. If English did not exist 2.000 years ago, should you not find out what language was spoken? And then use it for The Name, Lastly if you are told not to make graven images of anything that is in the heavens or under the earth and not bow down to them and worship them, why are their pictures of a person that is not him all over the place? That people worship.

So you are saying you don't want to grow up. That explains alot. The Spirit leads up to ALL TRUTH and the TRUTH sets us free. The millions of pictures of your Jesus is not true.

Re: Following Jesus - In His Own Words
Jesus's words have nothing to do with being 'called'. They are deliberately vague. I know people think they love him and everything, but biblical history isnt exactly the way your minister says it is. And niether is the bible since we have over 80,000 known alterations. Many christians refute the gay version of the bible that was written in recent times. But the gay version is no less adulterated than the king james or any other version. The point being is that the bible IS NOT the final word and is CERTAINLY not the word of God Almighty. The bible was engineered to create confusion.

I used to be reborn just like most of you. Then i woke up to the real truth. Just like someone who believes their government or media wakes up one day to the truth that it is all lies.

Everyone who is not ready to accept something will instantly deny any info that threatens their knowledge pool. Its called cognitive dissonance or the normalcy bias. It comes from fear and laziness. When you read the origins of the bible, which was compiled from other more ancient documents, you quickly wake up to the FACT that it is only a meer fraction of the whole truth. And it is not nearly enough to make someone spiritual. Just controlled, compliant, and spiritually ignorant.

What the bible is, is the story of a genetic experiment. Started by beings with extraordinary lifespans. To our simple minds the prophecy seems magical. But the beings responsible for the bible weren't all that magnificant. They misspoke, threatened, contradicted, lied, etc...etc...

When i count backwards from three, you will wake from your slumber. 3...2...1... You are now free to expand your mind.

Re: Following Jesus - In His Own Words
Exactly the same way you think you were reborn. You are trying to exemplify your own rebirth. It cant be done. Trust that mine was as genuine as yours. To suggest otherwise is itself a contradiction of your proclamations. In your own mind you believe you have achieved all that there is to achieve in spiritual growth. Which is why you deny me. Thats fine. It is one of the linguistic tricks of biblical mind control.

However, for the sake of argument, since you are so convinced of your superior belief structure, why would you not atleast look at what others are trying to show you. What is there to fear if you have reached the finality of your spiritual growth as you insinuate?

I know in your mind you think you are being tempted to stray from the light of christ. That is one of the conditions the church implants into your mind. It is very subtle yet powerful. It takes courage to look. The paradox is this, the level of unwillingness your mind has to open to other information is inversely proportional to the amount of subconscious doubt you have in your own alleged faith.

But immanuel commands you to remain meek (stupid), so you better get back to your church. Good luck. Don't take the chip.

"The Spirit bears witness with our spirit that we are children of God." (Rm 8:16)

Here are the 4 possibilities. The 2nd and 3rd are those who thought that they were Christians for awhile. Only the 4th example are those truly born of the Spirit....indwelt by the Holy Spirit.

"Therefore hear the parable of the sower.

"When anyone hears the word of the kingdom, and does not understand it, then the wicked one comes and snatches away what was sown in his heart. This is he who received seed by the wayside.

"But he who received the seed on stony places, this is he who hears the word and immediately receives it with joy.; yet he has no root in himself, but endures for awhile. For when tribulation or persecution arises because of the word, immediately he stumbles.

"Now he who received seed among the thorns is he who hears the word, and the cares of this world and the deceitfulness of riches choke the word, and he becomes unfruitful.

"But he who received seed on the good ground is he who hears the word and understands it, who indeed bears fruit and produces; some a hundredfold, some sixty, some thirty."

How is this the words of jesus when you quote a mark luke and john when we don't even know who they are. The whole concept that god sent his only son is kinda mindless for people who don't think. If god sent his only son then why would god order you to worship his son and not god almighty himself.
