RAP MUSIC Rant...

Real rap is wrought with metaphors. But usually the dumb old geezers listening to it are too slow to understand it.

I think all of you hating rap, merely hate shit you dont understand.

It's just low music in everysense, if you want to express your thoughts write a book or do presentations, but those lame rhymes backed by simple drum beats and all those gestures, it's just an insult to real art, real talent and real MUSIC.

I sometimes like Killah Priest though:

What the fuck does that have anything to do with it. Rap music is like the PICASSO of the music industry. They can't learn to create good music so they resort to a crappy gimmick. I can't speak for Koelbren but I play piano, trumpet, guitar and sing...all of which gives me more talent than any of these thugs. Fuck em.

Rap for the most part is pure shit. I don't care to listen to someone speak to a beat.

As another poster already said..it is not inspiring or uplifting. If they want to be heard or whine or bitch or whatever then let them write a shitty poem or a book. There is no point in putting it to music..especially when they're not even singing it.

Losing its traction? Since it blew up in the eighties,it has only gotten bigger and bigger. No other genre has had that big of an impact on he world. For better or for worse.

I thought rap would die out in the mid 90's just like all the 80's fad stuff did. Shows how wrong I was to assume our society has better taste.

To me, rap is something I could never relate to but like for the same reason I like mobster movies. Now I am positive we both hate the same type of rap music, but the rappers I like are story tellers who do what mob movies do, just lyrically and in about 4 minutes.

I don't listen to or watch either. The best films being currently made are almost with out a doubt foreign(for me in the US that is). The best sitcoms are British. The best music is never played on the radio, for the most part not even in the system.

Rap in any form and from any country is the same. I had a music minor in college and studied well the power of sound and what it does to the human psyche. The emotional results just from the beat alone creates hostility and anger. Coupled with the self centered lyrics, you end up with a recipe for disrespectful delinquent malcontents blaming everyone but themselves for their actions.

Right on. Rap is just a way to exacerbate the worse in people. It's the style of music that creates folks such as those who rioted in London or those who rape women in parades etc etc, it's just a filthy influence which spreads only bad habits. Anyone who supports such thing enjoys spreading filth around.

I... I agree with everything you said. Damn it. I still love a lot of rap but also hate a lot of it too. I tried to say who, but the copyright warning kept coming up every time. If its on the radio or MTV, it's garbage. If they have lil in their name, garbage. If they rap really really fast, garbage.

All I'll say is that we all should examine ourselves more closely. The music we gravitate to is indicative of how we perceive the world and our own participation in it. You could apply the golden rule if you will.
