Asteroid/Meteorit seen over Germany couple hours ago-- It was the re-entry of the upper stage of a Soyuz rocket12/24/11

explain this title to me OK

cause the supposed rocket already fell on the 23rd how can it fall again!

How can anyone believe this is a crashing rocket that emptied it's fuel tanks weeks ago?
See how calmly it hovers across the sky, wouldn't a couple of tonnes weighing rocket that is dead come crashing to the ground? And explain the cloudy sphere and spiral shape inside, no rocket i've ever seen does that.

And there was more then one soyus start...this tank was from the latest one which carry the new astronauts and docks at the ISS on dec 23

SOrry OP, your title is not correct! What Soyuz rocket?

A Soyuz rocket and a Russian military communications satellite crashed in Siberia on Friday

The other one Soyuz that took three man to ISS was 4 days ago! The boost rockets felt down in Siberia too.

Well okay but there are dozen of sources now that reports it was a soyuz re-entry...im confused now

Breaking News: Decay of Soyuz r/b stage from André Kuipers' launch to ISS observed from the Netherlands!
[link to sattrackcam.blogspot.com]

Fireball over Germany

[UPDATE: Turns out the fireball described below was the re-entry of the Soyuz booster that brought Expedition 30 up to the International Space Station a few days ago. Thanks to Marco Langbroek for alerting me to this!]

[Update 2 (19:08 GMT): More footage, and a picture in a Dutch paper. Tip o' the Whipple Shield to VirtualAstro and JHG Hendriks.]

Reports are coming in of a very bright fireball over Germany, Belgium, and the Netherlands. It happened around 16:30 GMT (17:30 local time in that part of Europe) on December 24 (just a couple of hours ago as I write this). I heard of it when BA Bloggee Dave Grant sent me a note from Dusseldorf; he got video of it!
[link to blogs.discovermagazine.com]

Soyuz upper stage is the most likely explanation

The German Centre for Aerospace (DLR) keeps the reentry of the Soyuz upper stage for the most likely explanation. This rocket stage was removed about nine hours after launch. However, it will probably take until Tuesday to this statement could not be confirmed officially, said the DLR.

Some scientists are already one hundred percent sure that the upper stage of the ejected Russian Soyuz rocket that caused the lights. Marco Langbroek of the Dutch scientist wrote in his blog that the published time agree the re-entry of the rocket stage into the atmosphere with the observed luminosity of the well. Langbroek refers to information from the United States Strategic Command, which also monitors the re-entry of all objects produced by humans into the atmosphere. The data are, however, to view only available to registered users.

It was NOT Russian Soyuz - period

Lost in Siberia: Military satellite falls to Earth

[link to rt.com]

Russia’s Meridian satellite falls in Siberia, 23.12.2011 . witnesses thought that the object - a UFO.
Russia’s Defense Ministry has confirmed earlier reports that the third stage of the Soyuz-2 launch vehicle was responsible for the failure to place the Meridian military communications satellite in orbit. The satellite subsequently fell to Earth in the Novosibirk Region, the ministry said. Judging from preliminary information, the launch vehicle failed “before the orbiting unit could separate from its third stage,” a source in the Russian aerospace industry told Itar-Tass. The Defense Ministry blames failure of the third stage’s engine for the incident.

Star of Bethlehem

From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
For other uses, see Star of Bethlehem (disambiguation).

Adoration of the Magi by Florentine painter Giotto di Bondone (1267–1337). The Star of Bethlehem is shown as a comet above the child. Giotto witnessed an appearance of Halley's Comet in 1301.

In Christian tradition, the Star of Bethlehem, also called the Christmas Star,[1] revealed the birth of Jesus to the magi, or "wise men", and later led them to Bethlehem. The star appears in the nativity story of the Gospel of Matthew, where magi "from the east" are inspired by the star to travel to Jerusalem.[2] There they meet King Herod of Judea, and ask where the king of the jewish people had been born. Herod, following a verse from the Book of Micah interpreted as a prophecy, directs them to Bethlehem, a nearby village. The star leads them to Jesus' house in Bethlehem, where they pay him obeisance, or respect, and give him gifts. The wise men were then given divine warning not to return to Herod so they return to their "own country" by a different route.[3]
Many Christians see the star as a miraculous sign to mark the birth of the Christ (or messiah). Some theologians claimed that the star fulfilled a prophecy, known as the Star Prophecy.[4] Astronomers have made several attempts to link the star to unusual astronomical events, such as a conjunction of Jupiter and Saturn , a comet or a supernova.[5][6]
Prominent scholars question the historical accuracy of the story and argue that the star was a pious fiction created by the author of the Gospel of Matthew.[7]

Hello to you too IWTB ;)

all I'm saying is that your title is not correct, and you should delete the part with Soyuz rockets. None of the Soyuz did fall in Europe (unless some military or any source find the parts of it!)
What had to fall it did already and far from Germany. I think it's the easiest way to blame Russians these days, as they do the most of the launches of all nations.

Couple weeks ago we had a meteor here in Ontario. It was a big blue-green ball of light with a long trail of fire behind it. It was really cool. But there have been an increase in meteor sightings in my opinion. Them being seen on a greater scale at the same time instead of only a few people seeing the incident.

Re: Asteroid/Meteorit seen over Germany couple hours ago-- It was the re-entry of the upper stage of a Soyuz rocket?!
whoami i know the dates....

UPDATE - the final TIP for Soyuz r/b 38037 / 2011-078B has been released by USSTRATCOM near 18h GMT and it indeed shows that this was the Soyuz r/b: reentry time is quoted as 16:25 +/- 1 minute GMT at 49 deg N, 7 deg E. This fits the observations well.

In the Dutch press, there meanwhile appears to be a lot of confusion. The Dutch National Police claims that they talked to "NASA" who apparently said it was a "meteor" (or "comet"). So THAT is widely claimed in the press now, to the point of calling the identification with the Soyuz 3rd stage "speculation". Which it is not: it is based on factual data and now clearly confirmed by the USSTRATCOM TIP message. What more do you want?!

The observations fit with 2011-078B , the last stage of the Soyuz rocket that brought Dutch astronaut Andre Kuipers up to the ISS earlier this week. It was already predicted to decay near this moment by USSTRATCOM

I know you know - the dates :D as you follow these space bussines a lot.
I still claim that saying it's the "upper stage of Soyuz" can not and it's not the truth. Because these parts of the rocket are not falling 4 days from the sky.
I also think that in NL press is much excited about their guy in the space, so they like to connect this falling with launch.
What is saying someone on the blog I find not enough. More sources, more proofs,...??

just to help ya' a bit;
The rocket appeared to perform flawlessly and about nine minutes after launch, the Soyuz TMA-03M spacecraft separated from the booster's upper stage and slipped into orbit, its solar panels and antennas unfolding as planned as it set off after the space station.
[link to spaceflightnow.com]
"nine minutes" on Dec. 21. and not on 24. tounge
 Quoting: Whoami

It didn't magically fall down nine minutes after launch. The upper stage of a rocket like this goes with the payload into orbit. It doesn't decay and reenter until some days later. By the time the third stage has done its job, the spacecraft is in a low orbit.
