I was young at the time so I though they were Satanists. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 14459915 I later found out that this was a worshipping area of Native Americans and they were doing some tobacco ceremony. The white robes were actually white Indian garments, not Satanist's robes. You sure it was'nt the Klan!? Sounds like them to me. Anonymous Coward User ID: 1486940 United States 05/02/2012 01:01 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | My back yard is partly wooded and I see all kinds of animals around here, particularly birds, since I put out seeds and other things for them to eat. Quoting: weasel keeper Yeserday was a bit weird, when I was sitting here at the computer and I heard a loud thump from the patio door, it sounded almost hard enough to break the glass. I saw a hawk on the patio, and when I moved out of my chair, he flew away. Then I went to the patio door and saw a dove laying under the side of the grill, his eye blinking spasmodically and blood spurting from his head. Well now I know what happened, the hawk snatched the dove from the grape arbor, lost its grip and it smashed into the patio door, and if you know anything about hawks is that they hit their prey at 50-60 MPH, that's why it was so loud of an impact. So, I left the dove there for about 5 Min.,and went back stealthily to see if he came back for his prey, and the dumbass hawk was standing at the patio door staring into the house looking for the dove, but the dead dove was laying about 36 inches behind him. Apparently the hawk thought the dove went into the house, where he was looking until I spooked him. I eventually took the dead dove out into the yard where a crow ate him. I also feed birds and my cats love to sit by the patio door watching the birds, one day a Coopers Hawk must have thought the cats were outside and the hawk slammed into the patio door with great velocity. The cats scrambled then returned to watch the dazed hawk stand by the door trying to regain its composure and senses while I looked up local wildlife rehabilitation centers on the Internet. The hawk then perched on the squirrel feeder watching the cats for a while then flew off however it must have been hurt. The hawk left a perfect impression on the patio glass door so it hit with great force and I was surprised that the glass was not shattered as he hit the glass with one loud thud. Someone on here mentioned the Cranberry Lake area in New York State. They have developed some of it now, but it was THICK woods where frankly, many people went in and few came out. There have been tons of them, but the one my mother remembered best from years ago was a family that stopped to let their 8 year old son pee. He stepped off the road into the brush, and they never saw him again. I mean they never saw or heard him or found a scrap of clothing, a body or a bone. I swear this is true and I can probably find the newspaper in the archive. Something similar happened in a town I grew up in. A family was out hiking the trails and their little boy was running ahead of them but not too far ahead - going from memory but something like 10 feet. Forget the exact age now but something like 7 or 8 or under. He went around a curve in the trail & when the parents rounded the curve just a few seconds later he was gone. They heard nothing, no animal noises, no screams. He just disappeared. Never found him. Very sad. Wow that is so scary. I wonder what could have happened? I don't know. There was a lot of speculation but none of it really made sense. One popular theory was a mountain lion waiting in a tree jumped down & drug him off but the parents never heard a thing! You'd think the lion would have made some kind of noise or that the boy would have screamed if that had been the case. They do hang out in the trees a lot. I've seen quite a few lions (and bobcats) in trees but unless you a a constant looker up,looker-sideways, looker in back, look down like I am in the woods you'd never know they were there. But the parents weren't that far behind and they never heard a thing! If it had been a kidnapper you would think the parents would have heard the abductor running away. I just don't know what could have been so silent. Wow, these stories sound exactly like some I heard from a Bigfoot researcher on the Coast To Coast AM radio program when he was talking about all the people who've gone missing from national parks, never to be seen or heard from again. BTW, so many people go missing in U.S. national parks (especially children in close proximity to their parents) that the government doesn't keep ANY statistics (or at least won't release them.) How's THAT for scary?! |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 9299561 The dog probably licked his nuts first and the other dog was laughing at you. Actually, I didn't think about that, you're probably right but that was 28 years ago, and it doesn't matter cuz the dog probably didn't have any spit left in his mouth considering the fact he was stuck there for several days in the mojave desert with no water and 100+ degrees F during the daytime, so it was a "dry lick"... We came to an old fishing boat along side the road and one kid said lets explore it so we jumped on board and I climbed on the wheel house and across from us on another side of this tidal river I saw a dog moving in the Punks and cattails and I yelled hey Boy! The dog turned and looked at us and I stared at it and it then went from a strtled look to one of sadness and I swear the dogs face looked human and it turned around and disappered into the swamp It took me a while to register what I had just seen and when I told the other kids what I had seen they just laughed. |

Anonymous Coward User ID: 938316 United States 05/06/2012 01:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | After reading most of the stories here I thought I'd share mine. This happened mid August in 2007 . My then girl-friend and I at the time, and her two small dogs, were up at my cabin in northern Minnesota . It had been cloudy and raining off and on that day . Finally around 7 in the evening the rain stopped . We decided to go out in the back yard and get a fire going for the night . We were both crouched down putting sticks and leaves on the few embers still burning . I was on one side of the fire pit and she was on the other side, and the two dogs were playing behind me . Then all of a sudden I hear her say "what the fuck is that?" as she is looking up over my shoulder . The way she said it, and the look on her face gave me a bad feeling . Anyway I stand up turn around and see the biggest bird in my life . 12-15 foot wing-span. The dogs immediately go onto their backs . As I stood up this bird diverted it's path and flew over the cabin and out of sight . About the bird. It came so low I could see every detail . If I had a rock I could had hit it no problem . Maybe 25 feet up max . It was a bird of prey with talons, but no Eagle . There are dozens of Eagle nests up there and I see 20+ every time I go up there . So when people say it was a big Eagle, I say you could fit an Eagle under each wing of this thing and have room to spare. It was jet black with rust colored feathers under each wing . It only flapped its wings 3 or 4 times and was totally silent . I would have not heard or seen it if she didn't . The last thing I saw was, as it was going over the cabin it made a turn . Hard to describe this but the thing made weird movements with its wings as it turned . Best way I can put it is it looked like giant letter W then M , reminded me of some old B horror movie with bad special effects. It didn't look natural . |

I saw something similar - all black, approx. 10 - 12 ft. wingspan while my dog & I were walking in woods near my house. It came from behind us & was low flying like it had just taken off from some low branch on a tree & was trying to get its lift and having a hard time. I heard a sound like nylon material & turned to see it coming right at us. Both the dog & I dropped to the ground since it was flying so low. It flew right over us maybe 15 feet above us. This was in Sierra Nevadas - Northern Calif. in mid-afternoon. I had dropped on my back so got a good look at it. It was all black - don't remember rust color but it could have had some rust color since I was in shock at the time. Nothing looked real on it. It was very shiny. It looked like a mechanical thing (and sounded like that also). The eyes looked like huge, black marbles looking down at us and moved funny. After we got up my dog went nuts & started barking & chasing it as it flew away. It was really having a hard time getting altitude. And the whole time I could hear the rustling sound (like nylon) of its wings flapping. I couldn't find any thing online about a bird that large in Sierra Nevadas. I have chalked it off to some kind of military experiment like the dragonfly and other insects they were supposedly testing in Mideast assuming they must be testing birds now. It was just too mechanical to be real. But that didn't make it any less scary! I'm glad someone else has seen something similar. |

It was an old gold mining town and now part of the bush again, but there is still a cemetery there. We were on BMX's and doing jumps over the old graves. It was fun at first but then the three of us stopped at once ain front of a three freshly dug graves, the soil was hard and full of quartz but these graves were dug perfectly, and by hand, you could see the pick marks. We sort of laughed, the grave yard received its last body 100 years ago, why would...? We got the creeps and got the fuck out. |
