A former fan here. Art was great until he supposedly knocked off Ramona and married a child-woman who could be his granddaughter, literally within 3 months of Ramona's death.

Yep, and then he knocks his new child bride up - while totaling ignoring his other three children - which apparently he has NO TIME for, especially his first son and daughter by his first wife.

A lot of people would say 'Who cares about his personal life'? Well, your personal life speaks VOLUMES about YOUR CHARACTER.

At the end of his radio reign, he was getting very nasty with his guests. That really sucked.

But in his heyday, yep, I listened to him every night - he was definitely on top of his game intriguing the masses with his wit and intelligence.

Wouldn't doubt for a moment his is a mason - and that TPTB put him as No. 1 on alternative talk radio going over 500 radio stations.

Again, on the positive side, Art opened many people's minds to things that go bump in the night. Art has a great speaking voice - I do miss him for that but I no longer listen to C2C and it's not that I don't like Georgy Noory - he's a much kinder interviewer but he's not like the Art that so many fans ONCE knew and loved.

I think you've summed it all up quite nicely. He incessantly touted Ramona as his "soul mate" for years, then she dies and it's off to the market to find a new bride before the body is cold.

It reflected poorly on his character, but most likely it's just a sign of a weak man who desperately needed a female to back up his ego.

I also grew tired of his vacillating between retiring and staying. Every week he had a new announcement regarding his status with the show.

He was better when he was laid back. Those two "Alien Burrito" shows were absolute howlers. I've never laughed so hard, and you could download the shows for free.

No, whatever happened in his personal life, he changed dramatically in those last few days and became the bitter, snide jerk that he is now. sNoory is pleasant, but the magic of the original show is long gone.

I HAVE LISTENED TO C2C FOR NEARLY 15 YEARS. CAUSE I HAVE SLEEP DISORDERS. ART WAS THE FIRST TO BRING IN OTHER WORLDLY STUFF AND CONSPIRACIES. HE WAS EX-MILITARY AND EX-COP. SO HE WAS RATHER STRAIGHT. BUT HE DID BRING ON A NEW EREA AND COULDN'T HANDLE IT. HE GOT A LOT OF DEATH THREATS AND THEY NEARLY KILLED HIS SON BY HIS SECOND WIFE. ANYWAY MANY OF US PRAYED THAT SOMEONE ELSE WOULD TAKE IT OVER. AND WE GOT GEORGE NORI.IN LATE 2002. WHO WAS ALSO EX-MILITARY PROFESSION. BUT HE SOON CHANGED AND MADE THE SHOW GREAT.AND TODAY ITS HEARD AROUND THE WORLD. BUT STILL I BELIEVE WE MUST TAKE IT ONE STEP FUTHER. GEORGE STILL PRAISES ALL THE KILLING MACHINE SOLDIERS. WE MUST STOP PRAISING THEM.WE MUST MOVE AWAY FROM ALL WAR AND THE PEOPLE SHOULD STOP MAKING HEREOS OF THEM. WE MUST GET READY FOR THE 2012 EXODUS.BRING THE WAR HOME.I AM A USA VET.

Ahhhh ..yes i have fond memories of laying in bed late laying on my back with my arms rested behind my head while looking out my bedroom window looking at the stars while listening to Art Bell on C2C....those were the days!!

I actually looked forward to jumping in bed turning off the lights..laying back and listening to Art Bell at night..it was just truly vintage celestial moments that will never EVER be duplicated in my life again.

Well I'm going to say it..... talk about your experience. I have had a great one.

There were a few nights ..especially on the weekends ( i was in highschool during these days ) that i would love to go on the back patio late at night and bring out a radio and just sit back with my telescrope in a chair and just star gaze while listening to Art Bell on C2C....that and the nights laying in bed star gazing out my bedroom window while listening to art bell were awesome nights ..totally free of stress ..and just allowing my imagination to flow freely with the aid of Art Bell's amazing prolific style of commentary ...

While he may be a crude person behind closed doors with his wifey(s)...none of that matters to me because he helped create some memoreable nights for me and helped me expand my concept of the cosmos and extraterrestrial life.

Ramona died from her chronic asthma most likely onset by the epoxy resins in the mobile home they were staying in that night.
It's not unusual for people who have been married for a long time to make a pact with each other that if one died the other was to go out and find a mate to replace the loss. I'm sure it was very difficult for Art to be along all of the sudden. But hey if it makes you feel better that there's a secret dirty rumor behind the situation... welcome to GLP.
On a side note my favorite shows were when "JC" would call in and religiously rant and rave about repenting, sinning and being straight in the eyes of God "...and don't you say a thing about my Millie, she's good wholesome angel of mercy and you are the devil Mr. Bell, the DEVIL and you shall be punished for your wicked ways!"

Eloquently said. The golden age of radio flew the coup. I still think the Phoenix lights episode of March 17, 1997 was magical. Also it has been conjectured that the Heavens' Gate cult suicides may have been the apex of the program, but who knows. For us aged fans of the old show all we have are memories. It is 2012 yet is fun to dust off the Art Bell scrap book.

JC is rumored to a ham operator out the southwest, you'd know his voice if you heard him but he is typically lurking on 3840.
