Brazil overtakes UK as sixth biggest economy as Britain falls behind a South American nation for the first time
Britain has been deposed by Brazil as the sixth largest economy in the world, latest figures show.
In a dramatic illustration of changing global economic fortunes, the UK has fallen behind a South American nation for the first time.
The U.S., China, Japan, Germany and France occupy the top five places.
More often associated with football and dirt-poor shanty towns known as favelas, Brazil is fast becoming one of the powerhouses of the global economy.
The largest country in Latin America, its economy has surged because of vast reserves of natural resources and a rapidly growing, and cash-rich, middle class.

If Britain didn't have to pay $100million a week to belong to the wonderful EU, and didn't have hundreds of thousands of immigrants to support on welfare, they'd be up at the top of world economies again.

I read all the books of TL Rampa and in one of them he predicted the three leading nations of the world some time in the near future would be Brazil Canada and Australia [ not necessary... in that order]

Also the UK would amalgamate with the USA "for protection"

Among other events for-told which now seem imminent.

For 300 Years Britain has Outsourced Mayhem. Finally it's Coming Home

Opium, famine and banks all played their part in this country's plundering of the globe. Now it's over, we find it hard to accept
By George Monbiot

June 09, 2009 "The Guardian" -- Why now? It's not as if this is the first time Britain's representatives have been caught out. The history of governments in all countries is the history of scandal, as those who rise to the top are generally the most ambitious, ruthless and unscrupulous people politics can produce. Pushing their own interests to the limit, they teeter perennially on the brink of disgrace, except when they fly clean over the edge. So why does the current ballyhoo threaten to destroy not only the government but also our antediluvian political system?

The past 15 years have produced the cash-for-questions racket, the Hinduja and Ecclestone affairs, the lies and fabrications that led to the invasion of Iraq, the forced abandonment of the BAE corruption probe, the cash-for-honours caper and the cash-for-amendments scandal. By comparison to the outright subversion of the functions of government in some of these cases, the is small beer. Any one of them should have prompted the sweeping political reforms we are now debating. But they didn't and even that won't stop dumbass swiss from missing bold face red letter type telling them NOT to post more than 50% of an article.

Probably two factors which has caused this 1) Brazil is a larger country in number and sq mile, and 2) outsourcing of industry to India and China has hurt all western nations. The NWO said they were going to deindustrialize and that is what they are doing.

And that would be 5.2 billion a year, not much. I hope that we overtake France next christmas, because we overtook UK this christmas. You know, because it is CHRISTMAS. Even tho UK didn't deserve it France does.

NO NO NO NO NO, don't say that! It is not a third world pit!

Brazil is a third world pit. Or second world, since most of the midle-class here get around 55k a year but get butt-fucked by the extreme taxes. The total per year is 1.5 trillion reais, about 800 billion dollars.

Basically, it is what the oil countries spent on the boom, in total, but they took a long time to get 800 billion dollars. We do it every year. Problem is, until we get people that can learn with other countries' good decisions in there, this money is going to the trash can.

You are probably a Brazilian expat who never set foot in Brazil in the past 10 years, and receive all your news from Brazil from the Globo TV and the Veja magazine, right?

You should admit, man: Brazil is a paradise, a new economic superpower, and the best country in the world.

You will never admit that because Lula and the Worker's Party achieved that, not your damned right-wing politicians.

watching Brazilian TV, i get it that Brazil is growing but has of the other "emerging" economies the greatest similarity with the USA, e.g. large consumer credit growth. obviously means good and bad things.

Large consumer credit growth, yes, but far from the same extent of the USA. Nobody in Brazil is puting the own house in a new mortgage just to get more money to spend with Ferraris.

The level of indebtment of the Brazilian families is far behind the level of indebtment of the American families.

Lol, I love it when people complain about this. Look, the british invaded A LOT of countries, enslaved their inhabitants and sacked natural resources, and yet you bitch about immigrants? Seriously? For hundreds of years the british empire tried imposing themselves around the globe. A great deal of their wealth comes from this action, but that also brings negative consequences sooner or later, multicultarism and mass immagration had to happen. Deal with it.

I don't want to "bash" Britain here, in fact I like many things about Britain.

But the "Opium Wars" were one of the greatest crimes of the British empire:

[link to en.wikipedia.org]

WTF, man?

The British empire declared war on China to FORCE China to lift the ban on the consumption of opium?

Really???

The British empire tried to FORCE China to permit that its citizens became drug addicts, just because the British were the drug dealers?

That was an especially evil part of UK history.

But, hey, who can cast the first stone?

I didn't do anything to the Chinese, so it's not on my conscience.

The problem with this world is that the vast majority of sheeples identify with their nation, or some "futbol" team.
