CXTGLP (OP) User ID: 3094030 United Kingdom 12/27/2011 09:49 AM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | On Monday, Iran started the 10-day long wargames- a series of naval exercises at the Strait of Hormuz intended to show its military strength, especially to the US and EU. The western nations had earlier warned Iran to stop its nuclear programme or face serious consequences. Iran had retaliated by saying that any action against it could result in the closure of the Strait of Hormuz- the seaway through which almost 40% of the world's oil flows. |

Quoting: bootyshake82930 agreed, would be followed by US navy ships and subs decimating the Iranian navy And what if Iran decided to sink ships purposefully in the straits to block it....Then how quick do you think the west could have it cleared !!! |

America has numbers but no brains... thats why you never can win in iraq, or afghanistan. oh....please..... |

Quoting: bootyshake82930 I hear this often threads about this topic and have questioned the same. However, when I see the physical description of the straight it makes me wonder if it is at all possible. The strait at its narrowest is 54 kilometres (34 mi) wide. The traffic lane is six miles (10 km) wide, including two two-mile (3 km)-wide traffic lanes, one inbound and one outbound, separated by a two-mile (3 km) wide separation median [link to en.wikipedia.org] That would be a hell of a lot of ships if I am not mistaken? Not putting down ideas, just raising questions. edit for more info and source (yes it wiki) Last Edited by DPH-BUG on 12/27/2011 10:24 AM "I may not have gone where I intended to go, but I think I ended up where I intended to be" - DA |

Just put enough debris and wrecks in the shipping lanes that it's not worth the risk to traverse it. |

You want to talk about crushing the economy that would do it. So I say diplomacy but thats not to popular.
