I have a ton of old marbles from the 40's, and 50's - are they worth anything? | |

Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1003364 No joke, there are collectors and they can be worth a LOT if you have certain ones. Go search google for Marble collectors and you will be surprised. Some of them are worth THOUSANDS. |

BRIEF User ID: 7650676 United States 12/30/2011 06:38 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Probably for nostalgia, don't know if people actually collect them though...my dad grew up in the 40-50's and played marbles...do you have any big "shooters" I think they are called? I never forgive and I never forget I am a licensed firearm holder. I will, under protection of law, use lethal force if attacked. |
Anonymous Coward User ID: 1507912 United States 12/30/2011 06:49 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Never seen such fantasy marbles, are you sure they are marbles? I played marbles as a child, always won all the marbles. Had to give some back so I had someone to play marbles with. If those are true marbles, they are rare and they should be collectibles. Have them checked by an expert in collectibles. |

Find a place to get them honestly appraised. Don't tell them you are wanting to sell them, just getting them appraised. :TOMABANEFOX: It's more humane this way ya know, or burn on totem pole. Choice is yours. |

One of the most important aspects of conspiracy theories is being able to discern when there isn't one. Oh yeah, like you'd understand anyway. Where are we going and why am I in this handbasket?. . .J. Handy |
Da Purple Chicken User ID: 7667691 United States 12/30/2011 07:58 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | Oooooo! I love marbles! We used to play them at recess in grammar school. “If we are peaceful, if we are happy, we can smile and blossom like a flower, and everyone in our family, our entire society, will benefit from our peace.” Thich Nhat Hanh, Being Peace "But ask the animals, and they will teach you, or the birds in the sky, and they will tell you; or speak to the earth, and it will teach you, or let the fish in the sea inform you." - Job 12:7,8 "When the going gets weird, the weird turn pro." - Hunter S. AGENT_P User ID: 6691031 United States 12/31/2011 12:03 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The ones with the animals in them are called sulphide marbles and they are worth a LOT of money. Do not let anyone tell you that they are not. Look them up, and you will see that they go for hundreds of dollars each, and certain ones go for thousands. Those prices are for the sulphides, the other ones generally don't have as much value unless it is a rare pattern or from a rare company. Many marble dealers are scam artists as I have found out from personal experience in dealing with them. A common trick that they use is they say that they will appraise your collection, and all they ask for in return is a small amount of marbles from your collection. Of course they will pick the best, most valuable one(s) for themselves, and will say that the ones that they picked aren't worth a lot. Be very wary, and do research so that you don't get burned. |
