My 25 year old daughter got arrested for public intoxication

Tell her not to be stupid and go outside if she can't walk straight?

Most people I know with drinking problems have issues with their parents. Maybe you need to go to counseling with her.

She should be grown out of it by now. At her age, I had a masters degree, married, a home, engineering position, and a child on the way.

She is stuck in a warp.

She won't even listen to me anymore.

this is the problem with people nowadays. they wont 'listen'.

let her listen to the sound of a kendo stick whipping off her back.

Slap her in the face before you talk to her. She will listen then.

Tell her the only way she can help herself from drinking alcohol, is to admit she has a problem. Confess. She must tell her parents, a few friends, and she will realize she is ruining her life. Beleive me, she has been drinking many times before. Confessing is cleansing of the soul and we take control.

Never. I'm amazed that my 70 something years old mother is still alive after all that much wine drinking...

This is the truth. I can't help, and I certainly won't be paying her fines.

Why not just cut her off from everything? Money, financial support, etc.... Let her live her own life..

Quit supporting her in any way! You are the crutch...You keep giving in to her..

Yes, I know. I am trying to let go, but I sure don't approve of her life decisions.

I've had the same problems. But its just not a few kids anymore its all of them. Seems into the 30's they are living like a bunch of teenagers.
Anyhow its just the way of the times. They party all the time. Be easy on her.

That was very kind of you to say. I hope when she does call, I remain calm, and she will give enough respect to listen to me. She thinks I am an idiot.

She insists on taking more and more students loans to get a Bachelors in Art. She already has a liberal art degree.

I want her to get a job (she had a federal job at USDA lined up), and start becoming responsible adult.
