The honour they father and mother one is obviously not universal, it needs a qualifer like, only to the extent that they represent your spiritual parent/s.

Do you mean Deuteronomy 5:16? It's obviously not universal, look at the reference to land. That commandment is specific to the group of people who were given the land referred to.

Honour thy father and thy mother, as the LORD thy God hath commanded thee; that thy days may be prolonged, and that it may go well with thee, in the land which the LORD thy God giveth thee.
-- Deuteronomy 5:16

Really, is that why Jesus restated the 10C law?

The 10C law has always been and always will be for God's people. They were found right from the beginning in the Garden. The 10C law was only given to Moses at that time to remind Israel as they were coming out of captivity in Egypt.
 Quoting: Jay 7731991

So you think you own that land? Why not go live there?

The ten commandments are part of the law of Moses, and can't be split out from it. God commanded His people the Israelites to obey the ten commandments and the rest of the law of Moses, when He gave them the law at Mount Sinai.

God did not command everybody in the world to obey the ten commandments, and He didn't command everybody in the world to obey the rest of the law of Moses. Those laws are only for the Israelites, as God commanded. Similarly, God didn't give the promised land to everybody in the world, He gave it to the Israelites.

God made it quite clear that Christians aren't supposed to live under the law of Moses, they are supposed to be under the new covenant law. Under new covenant law, Jesus is the High Priest. Jesus cannot be High Priest under the law of Moses, so you cannot mix together the laws from the two covenants.

See Acts 15:24 and Hebrews 7:12 for example.

Now you will probably want to ask, "Does that mean that you are allowed to murder people?". No it doesn't, you will probably find that murder is discouraged in the New Testament as well, if you read the New Testament.

But ask yourself, is Jesus Christ your High Priest? If He is, under what law? Because He can't be High Priest under the law of Moses, and he clearly said that He would not make any changes to the law of Moses. The only way it makes sense is if He started a new system of laws, which is what He did.

For the priesthood being changed, there is made of necessity a change also of the law. -- Hebrews 7:12

No, not for the whole world, only god's people. If you are God's people then you follow His 10C law he wrote in stone with His finger. The 10C law is different than the law of Moses according to the Bible/God's word. I'll go by god's word as final.

The 10C law has always been and always will be for God's people. They were found right from the beginning in the Garden. The 10C law was only given to Moses at that time to remind Israel as they were coming out of captivity in Egypt.

Jesus said: If you love me keep my commandments.

We are further told

Rev.22:14 Blessed are they that do his commandments, that they may have right to the tree of life, and may enter in through the gates into the city.

Are you saying it is now lawful for adultery, theft, murder? Other gods? Sabbath?

We are told God's law is not grievous.

1 John 5:3 "For this is the love of God, that we keep his commandments: and his commandments are not grievous."

The Bible truth from God's word is that if you are not following god's law you do not even know Jesus but have "another jesus". Maybe you are Catholic?

James 2:19 You believe that there is one God; you do well: the devils also believe, and tremble.

"For if he that comes preaches another Jesus, whom we have not preached, or if you receive another spirit, which you have not received, or another gospel, which you have not accepted, you might well bear with him." (2 Cor.11:4)

"Know you not, that to whom you yield yourselves servants to obey, his servants you are to whom you obey; whether of sin to death, or of obedience to righteousness?" (Romans 6:16)
