I read this article a day or so ago and it stuck a nerve with me as well. I've seen a lot of people downplay numbers like this or simply point to laziness or entitlement mentality of generation y/ late generation x.

In some cases there's an element of truth to the generalization, but for the most part it's a f*cking wholesale whitewash. A person cannot hope to find a job where there are none to be had.. blood from a stone much? And don't give me that McJOB bullshit. NO ONE CAN SURVIVE ON THAT LET ALONE BE A *responsible citizen* AND PAY DOWN ON DEBT. I mean COME ON- did a college graduate in the 60s work at McDonalds?

Also, geographic location plays a MAJOR part in whether or not a person will succeed. The amount of effort a person has to put in to find even a menial job in my area is preposterous to say the very least. I WISH this article would have broke the total percentile down into recent graduates in particular geographic locations, highlighting danger zones. Though that data would probably have been consistant with high/low(ER) unemployment rates..

Additionally, highlighting the fact that older Americans are richer than the young doesn't tell the whole story either. I would love to see the average income for a high school graduate (then vs now) AND likewise for the college graduate.

Not to mention the amount of college graduates in recent years has skyrocketed because of employer requirements.. Entry level workers, stradled with debt, do jobs today which require a college degree, WHICH DID NOT IN THE PAST. This compounds things making the individual even worse off because of debt incurred which would have never existed prior.

Not trying to be a dick, just my opinion..
