Ancient text depicts Tower of Babel
A team of scholars has discovered what might be the oldest representation of the Tower of Babel of Biblical fame, they report in a newly published book.

Carved on a black stone, which has already been dubbed the Tower of Babel stele, the inscription dates to 604-562 BCE.

Re: Ancient text depicts Tower of Babel
Not surprisingly, the Discovery Channel has got their facts wrong.

The Tower of Babel was built starting in about 1,800 B.C. m/l. God completely destroyed the Tower of Babel sometime after that.

There is not a trace remaining of the Tower of Babel. Historians don't even know for certain the location of the first Babylon. There are extra-Biblical sources, like the Book of Jasher, that document its existence, though.

King Nebuchadnezzar was the king of Babylon in 580 B.C. - when the southern kingdom of Judah went into captivity. That is well over 1,000 years after the Tower of Babel was destroyed.

The Discovery Channel says that there is an engraving that says "King Nebuchadnezzar II." There was no Nebuchadnezzar II. King Nebuchadnezzar's son's name was "Belshazzar." Belshazzar is the one who saw the hand writing on the wall.

Just more distortion from the main stream media.

Not in much a state to debate. Can you give any good links?

Or.... is all your info from the bible?

Thanks

People who think they know everything are a great annoyance to those of us who do.

When you are not sure, when you hope for the best, then you will fear the worst. When you are absolutely certain, even if it is a certainty of suffering, fear disappears, and strength flows in its place.`God
