Look at how long the Iran/Iraq war lasted. Now compare that to how long the ground invasion of Iraq took for the US. Iran would get overwhelmed in no time. Their only hope would be some kind of insurgency. The USA does not have the necessary level of disregard for civilian casualties needed to effectively subjugate citizenry of invaded nations.
