op..from a practical point of view..alcohol could deplete your body of vitamin B12..this could lead to depression.so as you can see its a vicious circle

first step..quit the booze
then take it from there

comes to a point in life you either go down with the ship or rebuild from scratch..

if youve got what it takes op you can do it..count your blessings..cos there is always someone who is worse off

 Quoting: wildhoney

Your body gets confused when you consume alcohol and you burn your b-vitamins.

to curb the alcohol craving, take L-glutamine, your body is craving the vitamins from beer + your metabolism is adjusting to a spike in blood sugar from alcohol.

The l-glutamine will stabilize + the vitamins (niacin in particular) will help with your mood.

It is kind of a perpetual cycle, unless you supplement what your body is craving. The body isn't designed to crave alcohol, but each person digests vitamins differenntly, and beer is a quick and dirty fix.

Previous posted mentioned working out, that is correct as well, as your body finds more outlets for your extra cal intake from alcohol.

Niacin was once used as part of AA treatment, the founder of AA was an advocate of nutrition/vitamins for treating the body.

For more, research the Gerson therapy.

If you do need to drink, drink unfiltered beer or red wine

Good luck.

Addiction is a terrible thing and it will kill you if you don't decide to fight to live.

You need God's help because it sounds like you are really in the "hole" and He's the only one who can help you have the will to live, OP.

Choose Jesus Christ today. He will help you, if you go to Him. He is helping me too. He's awesome!

Re: I'm dying slowly...
A well-known speaker started off his seminar holding up a $20.00 bill. In the room of 200, he asked, "Who would like this $20 bill?" Hands started going up. He said, "I am going to give this $20 to one of you but first, let me do this." He proceeded to crumple up the $20 dollar bill. He then asked, "Who still wants it...?" Still the hands were up in the air. "Well," he replied, "What if I do this?..." And he dropped it on the ground and started to grind it into the floor with his shoe. He picked it up, now crumpled and dirty. "Now, who still wants it?" Still the hands went into the air.
"My friends, we have all learned a very valuable lesson. No matter what I did to the money, you still wanted it because it did not decrease in value. It was still worth $20. Many times in our lives, we are dropped, crumpled, and ground into the dirt by the decisions we make and the circumstances that come our way. We may feel as though we are worthless. But no matter what has happened or what will happen, you will never lose your value. Dirty or clean, crumpled or finely creased, you are still priceless to those who DO LOVE you. The worth of our lives comes not in what we do or who we know, but by WHO WE ARE. You are special-Don't EVER forget it." Count your blessings, not your problems, u never know how many days you or your loved ones have left

Re: I'm dying slowly...
I'm in my 30's and drink nearly every day due to severe depression (I refuse to take meds, but....yeah, I still drink. Makes NO sense, I know). I'm divorced, jobless, broke, and have no vehicle. I lost everything nearly 2 years ago. I had a very good life just a couple of years ago. Now, I feel sick everyday. I feel lost. I've tried ending my life, but I've even failed at that. I don't even understand why I'm alive. There is no logic. I'm not on some self-pitty party, I just don't understand what is happening to me. If there is any helpful people out there, I'd like to hear from you. Thanks.

What does being an Aussie have to do with anything???
And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it.

I am an evil giraffe, and I shall eat more leaves from this tree than perhaps I should, so that other giraffes may die.

Dude, Go to the doctor and get some Xanex or something.

You'll start to feel better immediately.

Clinical depression REQUIRES medication as a start to treatment. If you do that you will look back one day and say that was the day things started to get better.

After that you can cut back on drinking, look into something spiritual to help make sense of life like Taoism or Buddhism or something, anything, trust me it helps.

After that your going to want to work and you will.

Best Wishes and I hope you go get those few pills you need and start turning it around.

Frater

Nonsense... Stay the hell away from Pharma-land, and anyone who recommends turning to the "medical" establishment, which has a singular purpose to make money.

If you want a cure, you sure won't find it there.

Do not replace alcohol with Xanax. Instead replace it with GOOD, SOUND, NUTRITION, and EXERCISE. There is NO better cure for depression.

And stay the hell away from Buddhism, Taoism, or any of the other "isms", like the guy above recommended. Get to know the ONLY cure for the human condition. He will be returning in your lifetime. Don't end up running from Him, like those who do not know Him, but were given every chance under the sun to.

Re: I'm dying slowly...
i know life seems just worthless to you right now, but the thing is, that is at this moment. There are days when i wake up with no hope, but then something happens that just gives me a glimmer of hope, wait for those moments. It's true like someone else just posted, in your darkest hours is when you really see and get it.

Sometimes we hit a brick wall, and that is a sign. The sign is to take our life in a different direction. I know all this sounds like blah blah blah to you, but believe me it's not. Life would be truly boring if everything was peachy keen. Difficulty is the flavor of life, take it in, and spit it out! We all have it in us, to conquer, and so do you :)

Re: I'm dying slowly...
Dude I'm 23, been addicted to more or less every substance you can think of. I thought I was indestructable, because I had a high tolerance my addictive personality I thought was pretty much non existent. So smashed anything I could get my hands on. Heroin, crack, alcohol, sleepers and the fact that I've been smoking weed everyday since I was 12 hasn't helped either. Recently got onto a legal cannabinoid but that quickly proved to have more negative side effects than weed, so now I'm dealing with that.

Believe me the only way to go sometimes is cold turkey if you cant trust yourself to have drugs in the house, I can't cos as soon as my brain chemistry has been altered by a drug I turn into a completely different person who will just slam any old pill layin about. Try locking yourself away with a t.v ,films, games, food, water and Your last doses if You feel you need them. Only leave Your room for toilet or a shower.

Trust me this works, I'm already feeling significantly better after only a few weeks.

I hope You find yourself mate. And I hope from this day on your life is easier but you need to come up with a plan and stick to it.
Youll be ok. Don't worry.
