Records are being shattered and Environment Canada is baffled. Dec/Jan has NEVER been this warm. Quoting: Anonymous Coward 3536840 [link to www.cjme.com] Manitoba as well, we have broken records all winter and are on track to break another tomorrow. Something strange is happening with the jets streams this winter. Our frigid north winds have failed to materialize. But I'm lovin it. Whoo hoo. I wore a spring jacket to work today, in January. As a fellow Manitobanite.. I couldn`t have said it better! If I had any Karma left, I'd send you some..but alas, I've blown my wad and have to wait for a refil. :) |

Oh, and according to one of the other threads here today.. there is a redistribution of weight on the earth’s crust, due to the glacial melt in Greenland, which is causing the earth's circumference to get bigger... And they’ve been telling me for the last few years a larger circumference is age related.. They lied??!!! :) |

I didn't check the temp. today, but it felt even warmer. It's supposed to be in the 50's and 40's for the next few days. Usually we have had snow/ice/etc by now. So weird!! Last year it was freezing cold starting in early November. The strangest thing is that yeah, we have warm snaps every winter...but it has been this way for WEEKS. hmmm |

It's evidently earth-directed. [link to iswa.gsfc.nasa.gov:8080] [link to www.spaceweather.com] This would make sense, seeing as how it's been warm AND the sun is so bright and days seem longer, already. Hmmmm..... I have a weird feeling about this everyone! |

I have a weird feeling about this everyone! Me too. I have never experienced a winter like this one in my 50 years on this earth. People I talk to all remark on it, though we always say that we will probably be paying for it later. It's hard on our horses. Here they have grown all this hair and now they're hot! |

Every weather forecast I hear - weather person says "well isn't this nice" ??? No they should say " WTF " !!!! We know a 90 year old lady down the road from us - lived here in Manitoba her whole life - she said " never in all my years have I sat on my deck in January " !!!! She doesn't understand what is up ! |

I've lived in Scotland for over 50 years and we've had plenty of mild winters, even milder than this, before. Just because the last couple have been extremely cold doesn't mean they all were. THERE must be someplace on earth that is getting much more water than usual. If It is the global water cycle that is off, THAT is impossible. The water that evaporates must come down somewhere. It's been raining really hard for the last 2 weeks now though. |

Madame X User ID: 1442220 Canada 01/07/2012 03:44 PM Report Abusive Post Report Copyright Violation | The Peg is normally the coldest city in the world, this winter has been the wimpiest ever. Spring jackets throughout December and January, not normal. Saw a convertible with the top down on Thursday, and the mailman is back to wearing his shorts, lol. The normal jet stream flow is not happening. The Canada Goose has yet to see the light of day this winter, this morning when I shoveled the meager bit of snow that did fall last night, I only wore a fleece. Normally they go into great detail about weather patterns and on they are effecting us, but this year, not so much. This winter will be one for the history books.
