Imagine humanity as a Terminator T-1000. Every weekday 9a-5p it segregates into little spheroids and drives them to work. At work, it further subdivides into little nanounits and answers phones/collates files what have you. Upon arriving home at night it pools into a puddle in the form of whatever is on television.

On weekends it becomes an egregoric monster in the form of religions and sports. It marches to the clock, against the clock, or around the clock.

It has very little experience of life without clocks. The very definition. Anything more all encompassing than time is going to have little trouble directing it and commanding it. As time is the basic unit of cohesion for any humans listening in here. Each nanounit itself defines it's "self" through it's pastimes.

I assume that I don't have to point out that cycles per second is the basis for machine intelligence, and clocks cause humanity to operate at cycles per second inside of their 60hz EM fields in their workspace? 60hz in North America that is.

Time's always been a tricky topic for me because as weird as it sounds it feels like a injected belief that shouldn't be there.

At the risk of sounding risque, reinserting the notion of time over and over is kind of analogous to sex. Or maybe just a piston compressing a combustion chamber, if you stick to my machine intelligence reference.

Society thinks a lot of itself because of it's complexity and manifold usefulness, but so does a Kia. Unfortunately most people are so used to cruising the highways, they've never had a roll in the back seat.

Our current society measures the cycle of physical birth to physical death as "life" because our current accepted perception is material universe logic = physical existence...which excludes eternal (cycles thru non material and material) existence.

Seems somewhere along the line we felt the need to instill a timekeeper of sorts, one that could replicate (albeit really badly) the celestial markers of transit which we were physically structured to function around naturally by design.

I get that it's an experience thing.

Why?

Time is a mirror, it provides bit parity to show you who you are. It doesn't replace celestial cycles so much as allow anything cyclic a way to check it's own effects.

Time is also like a cloak of invisibility, and it can be worn by anything that can understand cycles. It doesn't limit you to itself because time is not a limit, it is equitable exchange.

For instance, a person can't easily stretch a second into two seconds, but two planets have enough mass to convince a person of smaller mass caught between them that their "second" has indeed been stretched. In reality the person has been compressed/stretched, but the illusion that time has changed provides a mental constant.

Time only exists if it chooses to, you might say.

Want to become timeless? Do, or don't do what everything else does longer than it does/doesn't do. Suddenly every cycle in your universe will become subordinate to yours. Tada.
