Why are we still listening to people who didn't? I hear ya OP. You are so right! But...what can we do? I have figured out that most Americans love war. If we didn't have so many stupid wars, we'd be a very prosperous nation. After seeing Ron Pauls loss in Iowa, it hit me...Americans must really love war. As long as I've been alive America has been in a war. And for what? Oh that's right...Terrorist....right. I suggest "fishing on the other side of the boat". Ron Paul for President. |

I've got an easy solution to that... Anytime this country wants to go to war, everyone is gonna feel it. If you are too young to serve, you will be conscripted with community service of some kind. If you are of age to serve, you will be up for a draft. If you are too old to serve, you will be obligated to pay a war tax. This way when we go to war we can be sure it is the absolute necessary thing to do or people aren't going to support it. Yellow ribbons have single handedly made war agreeable and palatable for no-minded suburbanites... "The person who is in love with their vision of community will destroy community. But the person who loves the people around them will create community everywhere they go." ~ Dietrich Bonhoeffer "Doubt is not a pleasant condition but certainty is absurd" ~ Voltaire "The World is my country, all mankind are my brethren, and to do good is my religion." ~ Thomas Paine On Twitter @Iconoclastics |

Or we could just follow the constitution and require Congress to declare war before we send troops. |

We need to realize that as important as the Constitution is, it is only a piece of paper. It is only as powerful as the people who believe in it, we the people. Clearly the American people care as much about the Constitution as congress does and that is what needs to change. Civics needs to be as important as math and science in our education system, period.
