Bury my Heart at Wounded Knee

That book changed my perspective on what it means to be an American, specifically a white one. Thank God I'm a woman! :).The stark unavoidable facts of what went on really took me down a few fuggin notches. What a waste that millions of people suffered and died so that I can shop and eat shitty food and get hypnotized by television and fuck up the world. What a tragedy it's still intensively happening on a global scale.
How can that even be?? tortures me very soul.

Such is the way of life. Patton said America would only be great until some other race of more hardy men came to conquer us as well. Its happening as we speak.

Look at that mummy they found in Nevada. How many generations and civilizations have come and gone in her time. The only thing you can ever count on is war, killing and death.

I was at wounded knee..then i took an arrow to the knee.

When you start to learn the actual history of this country it breaks your heart. And the fact is it's still going on. It hasn't stopped. It's just gotten more subtle. Like Jerry Mander said, to paraphrase, the genociders use lawyers now, not bullets.

I was born into this and can't change history but I'm so, so sorry for what my ancestors did.
