Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are in it for the long haul
[link to communities.washingtontimes.com]

WASHINGTON, January 6, 2012 — After the Iowa Caucus concluded early Wednesday morning, the dust settled to reveal three winners, but only two long-term candidates. Mitt Romney pulled off a less than stellar victory over Rick Santorum, while Ron Paul came in a strong third. None of the other candidates came close to matching the top three presidential hopefuls.

Soon after the caucus, Michele Bachmann and Rick Perry re-evaluated their campaigns with Bachmann dropping out and Perry vowing to stay in the race until the South Carolina primary on January 21st. While this race is far from over, it is beginning to take shape. With Bachmann gone and Perry almost irrelevant, there are five Republicans left looking to win the Republican presidential nomination.

RP is still running far behind in South Carolina, at around 10% in the polls. SC is usually the break point, so he will probably have to save all that money for an independent run after that.

Ron and Mitt are going to split the Republican vote.

Obama has a third party on the ballot of every state so after a staged fight Ron can head up the new party.

Obama will be re elected.

I have a feeling we'll be pretty surprised at the result, actually.

My 'feelings' have rarely been wrong. It doesn't mean I'm supah smrt or anything, but I'm just saying..

For the record, I never thought Ron Paul would get far at all in 2007-2008. I have the itch in my mind that this is an entirely different scenario, even counting in vote fraud etc...

RP will probably come in at third in the delegate count for the Republican convention, then use his committed delegates to push through some of his policies into the official platform. If that doesn't work, he'll get pissed off and run as an independent, cannibalize the Republican vote, and Obama will win. In that scenario, he'll just be a spoiler, not unlike Ralph Nader was for Al Gore.

You want change, dont complain afterwards when change means you have to stop milking the gov's socialist titties. Change means you get off your ass and work your way to bring real prosperity to your nation, and it also means that if you don't do well you're on your own.

The good thing is that if the banks don't do well, they're on their own too.

Will it be painful? yes. Will it be rewarding when things begin to improve? yes.
Banned as usual.

“It is far easier to be a weakling than to be a Real Man. Were the Earth less harsh or the circumstances of life less austere, man would destroy himself before the shrine of the languid goddess. Only Real Men can with safety destroy the tangled forests and wilderness of Earth and make from them gardens, but will those who inherit the gardens be Real Men? The law decrees that they must be, or the wilderness will reclaim its own.”

Ron Paul better think of something to raise his polling in early states soon because if not Romney's nomination is in the bag

Re: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are in it for the long haul
The only reason Ron Paul is "In it for the long haul" is because Ron Paul always stays long since he's done...

He won't be winning any early states or I doubt any on Super Tuesday either. He'll get the last frantic money blimpers to feed him some cash while he winds down his expenses in preparation for keeping whatever remains.

It's hard to call when the "also rans" will completely collapse and be culled out...but I'd say we can count on Ron Paul squatting in the race long after he should have been gone. That may accelerate some others dropping off as they won't want to be seen as doing the same, they still have careers to consider.

There won't be any third party spoiler run from Ron Paul either because it will destroy his sons career...the word on the street is already out on that with some very powerful players letting it be known that, "You fuck us and get Obama re-elected? then I will actively campaign again against your son and he's finished"

If Romney is smart he'll get word around that he would give him a nod for a high enough level position in his administration, possibly Treasury secretary where RP might do ok and get his Paulbots on board with the campaign.

THAT is a far more plausible outcome than Ron Paul actually winning any of the primary contests and becoming a contender for the nom.

There isn't going to be a brokered convention...if that's what you're thinking...

Re: Ron Paul and Mitt Romney are in it for the long haul
I think by long haul the article meant RP and MR are the only ones who stand a chance as the article said that RP has the resources to continue and nothing about RP's attitude to not stop campaigns.
