[link to www.blueletterbible.org] The arrival of Jesus Christ is announced by John. Again, God the Father sends a messenger to announce that the Messiah is here. God sends the Holy Spirit [Love] and proclaims that Jesus brings Him 'great joy.' What love the Father shows! Jesus is sent into the wilderness and resists the temptations of satan.... again out of love for his Father and us. He is the spotless Lamb of God. And, then, to show His great love for us He begins His public ministry by proclaiming, "Repent, the Kingdom of God is at hand." Jesus will now spend years [out of love for us and with nowhere to lay his head] to show us the way to Eternal Life !!! So, it looks like the teaching this week will be on Mark 1. Not sure if I should make a new thread or just add to this one. I spoke on how Jesus fulfilled the prophets for a few weeks and now i think it is time to get into what He actually said. What better way to do that than to read and go through one of the gospels. Marks is the shortest so i think i'll begin with this one! Besides, i already have some reflections posted on this gospel. Three times in Mark chapter one the phrase "Good News" is stated. I guess i'll begin with that. How is Jesus Christ, as the Good News, revealed in Mark 1??? |
