Sad perspective. The closest and most trusted disciple was a woman, Mary Magdalene. The Messiah is the most prominent advocate of gender equality in history and this is suppose to be a turn off to women?

You might have the wrong interpretation of her being cleansed of seven demons. Check out the Gospel of Mary:

Sadly, the people who believe in the Bible continually miss the contradictions contained within it.

One of the biggest flaws is the treatment of women. As ordered by two main protagonists Moses and Paul.

From day 1 Eve apparently was tempted by the devil, and she in turn tempted Adam... OMG we couldn't blame man for not resisting - Omniscient GOD gave mankind the ability to think and analyse and somehow women got the blame for that gift... How crazy is that?

Moses made up heaps of laws and pretended they were from GOD. How Christians can oppress gays for instance and not follow the other Mosaic laws at the same time is beyond logic.

This Mosaic law is particularly offensive.

Then they shall bring out the damsel to the door of her father's house, and the men of her city shall stone her with stones that she die: because she hath wrought folly in Israel, to play the whore in her father's house: so shalt thou put evil away from among you.

Most intelligent people know that menstrual blood on the sheets is NOT a test of virginity, and there are many causes of the hymen breaking other than sex.

How many innocent women were killed under this craziness?

1 Corinthians 14:34-35 Let your women keep silence in the churches: for it is not permitted unto them to speak; but they are commanded to be under obedience as also saith the law.

And if they will learn any thing, let them ask their husbands at home: for it is a shame for women to speak in the church.

1 Timothy 2:11-14 Let the woman learn in silence with all subjection.

But I suffer not a woman to teach, nor to usurp authority over the man, but to be in silence.

For Adam was first formed, then Eve.

And Adam was not deceived, but the woman being deceived was in the transgression.

Finishing with the line Adam was not deceived is simply untrue.

Try to find ONE (man or woman) that wasn't full of weakness, sin etc, and every one of them were loaded with faults but turned around by their encounters with an ALMIGHTY and LOVING God.

It's not whether I missed large parts of the Bible that needs to be answered. It is how can you have missed the oppression of women in the Bible.

How can you accept that your GOD can allow men to oppress women, by blaming woman for everything? How can you accept man's teachings as representing GODS?

It is the same main reason I left Christianity as well op. Just as you said above when you look at the actions of the church almost from the beginning there is a consistent systemic oppression of the sacred feminine, and the rights and needs of real life flesh and blood women.

I eventually found my way to nature based faith that venerates both the sacred feminine and the masculine as well as the divine merging of those two energies into one non-gendered entity.

I didn't walk away from Christianity, but left the Catholic Church.

Though I had wanted to be a nun, but in truth I had wanted to a be a theologian and they were all men.

Of course Religious Studies and Philosophy, then perhaps taking a Counseling Course would have been even better.

Up until then I kept telling myself the reason God wanted only male priests in the Church's is because women already were the best counselors, good at healing professions, so that God must have wanted men to stretch and grow more, as they were so often, though not totally deficient in this and hence wanted men to be priests in order to grow more as they needed to learn these skills. So a pretty reverse feministic reason. The university priest who left the catholic to become an Anglican Priest, due to women being ordained thought that was funny.

Then it dawned on me that this was not the reason, that God was not in these rules, when a priest spoke up I realized this was primarily the corrupt leadership.

There is many things in the bible that I don't agree with.

Mother WAS THE TREE OF LIFE. She was Sophia. We are in the Womb being born.

Then they did something terrible to Sophia, and women, so they could promote WARS and inequality and walk over all the people and resources, and erect obelisks, GIANT PENIS'S EVERYWHERE, and made eve the temptress instead. While they long to be adrogynous.

There are no priestesses in the Bible , the priesthood belongs to the Sons of Aaron .

When you're called to faith, young, by feeling the Spirit in the Word its hard to leave the Church.

My family was athiestic, and agnostic. My grandmother was the Catholic. And her home was always filled with the Spirit of Peace and Love, though she always got cranky over the world, and the satanists running hollywood and the world and would smash dishes around at times, always choosign to wash the dishes to calm down. She had a dream about all the people of the world being fed into this giant corporate machine, and she would awake in the night praying for the third world children. But there was so much peace and intelligence in their home.

I started reading her bible, and there was Presence in the Word, so I read the whole thing. There is only Presence in some of the wonderful passages and in Christ's words, the Truth and Love is there, so even as a pre-teen I knew that alot of the bible was written by man for control.

In the Church, there was Presence. Catholics are good people, my cousin went to the Alliance and its a Church for the dog eat doggers, not compassionate to the poor. Not like Christ.

But the Catholics were the grass roots people, farming commmunity, and shared food and things alot. They are taught that good works are equally needed to faith.

And despite all the coding to Saturn in the Church, you can feel the Presence of the Spirit of Peace and Love and the Holy Spirit strongly in the Church.

I liked the Catholic Church mass best out of all the masses, its sacramental, peaceful, meditative.

And that priest, he been raised Catholic and Baptist and was a really good speaker so he didn't gain by the Baptist faith, he craved the meditation and sacraments of the Catholic too. But in university someone suggested he should become a priest, he felt this calling too. So had I of course.

But he was going to marry, he knew, so his girlfriend said, They Just Ordained the First Female Minister in the Anglican Church in Canada.

That was it, he became an Anglican Priest, he used that word due to his Catholic roots.

And, he spoke of Mary alot. He was a University Professor, and had to do an emergency stint in parish for a few years, and so he was criticized by some in the congregation for bringing up Mary alot.

He said, that when people understood, that God was Both Mother and Father, Male and Female, then perhaps the so called cult of Mary this woman had brought up, might not be as important.

We are once again proving how much we are all flawed and near the point of "cleansing" once again.

For years I thought about taking counseling and hypnotherapy, as art therapy was my goal, and then ministry training of some sort for a kind of unique universal spiritual center, Christ, Buddha, and because kids need this, and its not easy to raise 5 boys with good principals without Church, and I can't go to any religions. Alot of meditation and psi development too. The Vedas as well, more of, come as you are.
But only the light squares would be used as inspiration, the other parts of religious writings would be studied to analyze the controllers plans here.

Now, its more about holding light and equality, not walking in any expected way or conventional way.

IMO there won't be time for all of this.

And a true spiritual center like that would also study the great philosphers, have workshops, and the kids would not have to wait till higher levels of university to encounter Seneca for example. And Quantum Physics/Metaphysics.

All I see is OP ignoring the finer attributes (courage, selflessness, faithfulness and honor) of many of these women, and focusing only on labels. OP makes a point of Esther being in a HAREM *gasp*, and ignores the story of her being chosen as Queen, her bravery in saving her people.

Seems to me OP is doing the same thing she likes to accuse the Bible of doing, and she obviously has a dirty mind to boot.

The failure is not Christianity but what people have done with it. They have used it in a wrong way to hurt others. That is not what Jesus wanted or preached about. Everything can be used in a good and bad way. We need water to live but we can also drown ourselves and others in it. But in no way is it the water's fault. It is the way it has been used. And in no way would I want to get rid of water. Just use it properly.

Reading the bible also woke me up to a different reality, op. The bible does not portray women in a positive light and certainly not as the equals they were supposed to be.

Combine this with the actions of the men I observed within church congregations and I realized at a young age that life was full of hypocritical leaders and a book that my own higher power was telling me was not the truth.
