I find "church" today, (and when i was a kid) to feel much like torture.
I grew up Catholic. They pounded the "guilt" thing home pretty well, but I had no understanding of why I was fearful. Come to think of it, I don't think we ever touched upon Revelation, and the urgency to "get right with God". It was passion-less, mindless, stand up/sit down, repeat verbatim, not much biblical understanding stuff.
These days, the modern Christian church services are like attending motivational speaking. They might throw a bible verse or two into the mix. I definitely get the sense it's all prosperity speaking, and what people would like to hear as opposed to what they NEED to hear.
Quoting: FearlessCoward You are 100% correct. Nearly all 'Christian' churches of today have dried up like a fig tree in the desert. "My people are destroyed for lack of knowledge... this is a rebellious people, lying children, children that will not hear the law of the LORD: Which say to the seers, See not; and to the prophets, Prophesy not unto us right things,
speak unto us smooth things, prophesy deceits." Hosea 4:6, Isaiah 30:9,10
Friend, look for a congregation which preaches the most Bible truth. We are instructed not to "forsake the assembling of yourselves together, even more so as ye see the day approaching", but at the same time the Creator does not desire for us to remain in a fallen, corrupt, and dead church.
Find the church which can explain to you clearly Biblical prophecy, both the books of Daniel and the book of Revelation. Remember, that the ministry of John the Baptist, of Jesus, of the Apostles, and of the Reformers ALL began with PROPHECY, both the fulfillment of it and the preaching of it. Prophecy, as it is in Jesus, is to be the foundation of the faith of the small company of faithful believers at the end of time. These are and will be the ones most dearly regarded by God and the most despised and hated by Satan.
Notice Revelation 12:17, "And the dragon was wroth with the woman(Gods church), and went to make war with the remnant of her seed(the few remaining believers at the end of time),
those who keep the commandments of God and have the testimony of Jesus Christ."
What is the Testimony of Jesus Christ? The Bible always explains itself. Revelation 19:10, "Worship God, for the testimony of Jesus Christ is
the Spirit of Prophecy." That true faithful remnant will be those who are able to lay out before you the prophetic books with clarity and understanding.
They are few, but they exist. Find them, and you will have found where God wants you to be at this time.
