Why men will ALWAYS cheat (even if they love their partners and don't want to leave them)
Sociologist Eric Anderson says that monogamy is socially-constructed incarceration.

In a study of undergraduates, 78 per cent of men cheated on their partners.

Undergrads huh?
18-21 year-olds.
And that's enough to condemn the entire male sex?

Sociologist Eric Anderson needs to go back to school.

relationships are about love and sometimes love requires sacrifice

this is the same as saying that because pedophiles enjoy sex, they should be allowed to do it?

I've cheated before, but I've been with my wife for 2 years already and the thought hasn't even crossed my mind.

Not all men are the same, and we are clearly not wired the same either. This is a bullshit study/research, they tested "undergraduates" in college which means 18-21 year old. They should've asked women who are 18-21 too, I bet 100% have cheated.

He is a sociologist. He is gay. He 'studies' women. He loves men.
And he thinks that rich white undergraduate frat boys are the last word
on monogamy. I think his criteria was that they had to have been in a
'steady' relationship for 3 months. And of course they told the complete
truth about their sexual exploits. No bragging allowed. Sure. Whatever.

The best part is of course that the guys want prowling privileges but
definitely do not want to allow their SO's the same.

The book is $49.95 if you want to support his work.

I wonder how many gays he included in the study since they are the most promiscuous and cheating group on the planet.

I also wonder how many blacks are in the study.

Show me this study with a better sample size and with straight married couples with different lengths of relationships.

im a man and i dont cheat. and yes i do get plenty of chances.
before i was with my girl there was a period of 6 months in wich i liked her but wasnt even dating her and i was faithfull to her then already.

so up yours for mongering fear.
statistics like this are out there to make people think "well if they all do it then so should i" but luckely enough theres still decent people out there. theres just fewer and fewer of them left. people who cheat and have short relationships are better for the economy. thats why this agenda is pushed...

It is interesting to realise...that all human , rules, regulations, beliefs and values systems are based primarily on artificial, polarised, delusional or consensual constructs...that aim to guide, control or structure our social behaivour... but in truth often conflict and fails to match both our personal and primal bipolar nature and needs (if we are totally honest).

Therefore, all these thing represent options and choices ...to either comply, rebel or find some form of compromise, as we explore, experience and interact with things throughout our lives.

Monogamy is one such relationship option, which works well for some and not for others , but it seems for most (the majority) it is a very difficult reality to maintain because of it's very rigid requirements of commitment..in a world of choice and opportunity.

What would be good is that humans just be honest at the start, then perhaps the problem and dissappointments, lies and anger would be reduced.

I think the truth is, people hate other people. So we set out in many forms to somehow destroy something or someone. I mean, how the fuck can you like people, most people are empty wasters who get in the way.

You are not a man only by coming to the world with. To be a man, that must be earned, won, proved first by appropriate conduct.

Here comes the problem of cheating along. The appropriate conduct for to be a man consists in delivering the proof that you are capable to act against some feelings that informs you, what you are doing is maybe not correct.

For to be a real man, you have to trick out this seductive voice, tricking or cheating, with faust or words or embarrassment who pretend to do anything like that.

See it as sport, as religion, as a pastime, ethical misconduct on demand, an unsolved problem that keeps them, men, tight together in mutual understanding, out of all camps and fronts, creating the known fraudulent resolution scenario in which unavoidably the most fraudulent there is king.

agreed... if you love your partner and appreciate them you won't cheat. I know many older married men that would never cheat on their wives, including my father.

This study is just a piece of shit.

The study is crap

"In the study, Mr Anderson surveyed 120 undergraduate men"

READ: Mr. Anderson surveyed 120 unmarried fellow classmates.

120 guys barely men, cannot give factual data about the millions of men on the planet.

Suddenly all men are just cheaters.

Some feminists might want to cheer on that study but it is hardly something that can be taken as serious fact for the entire male population.

Those men were not men yet, still college aged boys stuck in late puberty. Of course they can't be loyal to any one mate.

My husband only had one intimate mating session with one female before he met me years later on.
I said he only ever had sex only 1 time! :)

We've been married now going on 23 years.

We are semi-germaphobes and the thought of touching or swapping kisses or other bodily fluids with other people gross us both out completely.
Keeping with just each other we know we are not being exposed to sexual diseases.

In today's diseased society you can even contract oral herpes and gonorrhea from a single french kiss!

Too many other diseases to list but when a kiss can kill you it's time to stop worrying about condoms.

The human species is just too disease ridden to interact or breed with anymore.

Bullshit.

More lies to make men look like pigs.

Undergrads that barely have pubes are now giving us insight into ALL men around the world?

I fucking think not.

And the LORD spake, saying, "First shalt thou take out the Holy Pin, then shalt thou count to three, no more, no less. Three shall be the number thou shalt count, and the number of the counting shall be three. Four shalt thou not count, neither count thou two, excepting that thou then proceed to three. Five is right out. Once the number three, being the third number, be reached, then lobbest thou thy Holy Hand Grenade of Antioch towards thy foe, who being naughty in My sight, shall snuff it." Amen.

I've enjoyed reading all the men here who are loyal. My dad cheated on my mom, and I saw how that broke them. I have been staying away from relationships, since their divorce was such a mess. But reading how you men have stayed faithful, and WANT to, desire to stay faithful, this has given me such great hope. I am 28, and I am just realizing there are good men out there.

You wanna keep a man faithful? Point a .357 at his head during the wedding and make him repeat after you: "I will not take these vows lightly. I will not cheat on you even when you are going thru menopause. I will not think about anything but working to provide for you and our family, which you know will be my kids. We will not divorce ever even through sickness or health, richer or poorer. You will work and I will help with the kids and the house repairs. We will have a life, but remember we started out with nothing but we will build a life together because that's what the main goal is. We may have our fights, but if I ever lay a hand on you, you have my permission to shoot me."

While I would like to promote that list as well, it simply does not follow that a man will remain faithful because of them. Nor is this list required to keep a man faithful.
There is always someone available to cheat with. The choice to remain faithful to your partner is yours alone.
I have to agree with above posts that state this study as being fundamentally flawed. Test subjects are not men. They are children.

Definately BS, I am 42 and have been Married with children to 2 different women who both cheated on me. We had sex often, 4 plus times a week. Made good money, new house, new car etc.
No excuses for them other than they took the bate when friends got in their ear about "Girls Night out", and crap like that.
Both ended with crappy lives as they found that they repeated this behavior with others. I have no desire to be with a woman again. Years of child support and starting your life over sucks.
This guys study as so many of you pointed out is using the wrong group of "BOYS" to make his case.

I met and fell in love with a man. We dated for 6 years.
Then one day he told me he was married.
WTF how did he keep that from me and her.

Anyway after that I don't have an interest in being with another man. I hope one day I will be able to trust again.

I really feel sorry for his wife. I didn't tell her even though I did a background check on him.
Next time the background check comes first. I will also call their ex's to find out why they split.
