Message Subject Air raid sirens blaring north of Philly!

Same thing happened this past week in a east side suburb of Detroit.

On Wednesday it went off at 12:15p.m. Then on Thursday the siren blared 7 different times throughout the day along with them shouting at us over the loud speaker "this is only a test"... The sound is so loud my ears rang for some time after the siren ended and my dogs whined during the alert.

I called the township office to ask what the problem was with the siren and I was told "it malfunctioned on Sunday and we have to do testing. There's nothing to worry about"

This isn't the first time they've done this with the EAS since the "national emergency alert" back in November. They did it the day before that four separate times, and when I called to find out the problem then I was given the same answer I was given a few days ago.

I have lived here 15 years and every Saturday this siren goes off at 1 p.m. Suddenly after all these years the day before the national alert and since then it "malfuctions" and they randomly blare this thing and shout over the loud system "this is only a test".

I don't know what to think of the sudden random alerts, but it certainly seems like it's being used for either a sound cannon or possibly conditioning?

Perhaps the EAS you're describing is the same thing they're doing here? I wonder how many other cities are experiencing these random emergency alerts...my best friend lives in a suburb of Phoenix and has none. I wonder why it seems only certain areas are targets...? wtf
