I have always made fun of die-hard juicers. The idea always seemed ridiculous to me. I love food too much.

However, if you worry about getting all of your nutrients the natural way, it's the best way to do it.

Think about it.

So, I was talked into trying it for awhile. I was like, "oh hell no!" but I tried it.

First few days...suck ass.

After that?

And doing it cuts down your risk of cancer. It has all kinds of other benefits too

lol!

nah, it's not bad. I was thinking about getting ginger root to help cover up some of the 'green' taste but for now, I use mostly greens and then sweeten it up with strawberries/apples, and sometimes lemon...a little bit goes a looooong way.

Also, you can kinda 'dumb it down' with water.

It is definitely an acquired taste, but it isn't near as bad as I thought it would be. Definitely do-able!

I can't believe how much energy I have. I feel like I am literally glowing from the inside. . . literally radiating light.

Good health is un-frakkin-believable!

Re: Juicing - Who Knew
Sorry for the hit and run -- I had some things to do.

I got a nice $300 juicer from someone on craigslist for $50. They got a Breville and decided to get rid of it. It's a Champion. It has different screens so you can either jucie or puree (some other stuff too - I need to read the booklet)...

So today I have managed to drink the juice from apples, romaine hearts, artichoke, kale, carrots, celery, strawberries, tomatoes, and more kale (yeah kale lol)

I do different mixes but always try to do 2/3 of it as leafy greens, and the rest to taste it up.

For now, I'm doign the reboot for ten-days. I decided to do it to see if I can get rid of this horrible bout of fatigue and allergies I've been dealing with, along with my reflux issue and also just thought it would be good to maybe retrain my tastebuds so I will hopefully start to eat better.

Too much processed foods is like eating empty calories. And even if you don't eat fast food, most people still get the majority of their food from cans and boxes and just add a few fresh ingredients.

No more of that for me...easy as it is to open up a can of chicken noodle soup, it's much healthier to pack in nutrients.

So, one 8-ounce cup of juice, depending on which veggies/fruits/herbs you put in it, can have all the nutrients your body needs for the day.

I feel fucking amazing. Not a blemish on my face. I have a spring in my step that I haven't had in over a decade.

And this spring, watch out. I'm growing most of my stuff in the backyard.

Toss in a green apple and lemon which doesn't have as much sugar in it as other fruits (in case you are pre-diabetic, etc). It's been working for me. Or if you want the 'sugar' element, get or grow some Stevia (natural plant sugar).

I use blender, cant afford juicer :(
but it's all good
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 5899485

I use a Vitamix which is like a blender and use the whole food, not just the juice. Good way to eat your spinach, carrots and kale without having to actually taste it when you also put in fruits.
 Quoting: Anonymous Coward 1295588

I have an old vitamix. It's great as it does pulverize whole foods. But the difference is the juicer is supposed to be less taxing on your body organs especially if your liver, etc, is so out of whack and you really need to have your body only process the liquid enzyme juice, and NOT the fiber.

I may have mentioned earlier that I LOVE my new HUROM juicer. I did a 'side by side' with a Jack la Lane juicer, and got 60% more juice with my Hurom. With the price of organic food these days I figured I'd invest knowing I'd get more juice for my $buck.

Yep. I'm still doing it. I actually tried to cheat and take a sip of Coke Zero. It tasted horrible. I guess my taste buds are changing.

Too bad it's so expensive that most people can't afford it.

Not true.

Fruits and vegetables are some of the most inexpensive foods at the market.

You can buy "The Bullet" as seen on TV for about twenty dollars at some of your discount dept. stores.

I want one of those Jack LaLane juicers where you can put the whole veggie or fruit in, you dont have to worry about chopping it into smaller bits to get it to fit. Tomatoes + 1 jalapeno + carrots + blueberries(yup) + celery + parsley = WOWSA! So good...

I inherited an old VERY heavy, VERY hard to clean up juicer...hated it for those reasons alone. I got a Breville (don't remember what I paid, but it wasn't the $300 other folks mentioned). It's great. I use a small grocery-store bag to line the discard area. No mess. Doesn't even need scrubbing...just rinsing. Be sure to checkout the cleanup before you buy one...that old one had to be scraped and scrubbed with a brush every time.
The leftover pulp can be used for soups...or substitute it in a carrot cake/zucchini bread recipe.

Man, but it taste like liquid vegetable ass! I hate it! But somehow, I choke down the obligatory glass each morning to start my day. Beats coffee as a get it going drink, and one you get past the taste and mild nausea that lasts for the first 10-20 minutes, you are good to go.

Brought my BP down from 180/100 to 120/78, so I can't quit even though each morning I drag myself in there to make the damn juice.

to get it clean is a pain
