ISRAEL is preparing to shut its nuclear reactor at Dimona, where it makes nuclear weapons, because of the site's vulnerability in a war with Iran.

Telling. It's getting close.

Also, gotta say, San Marino! That's the first GLP post I've seen from San Marino. I used to collect stamps from there! That would be a cool place to live, safe from the ravages of WW3.

Re: Iranian war fears spark closure of Israel reactor
it does not mater if they shut it down. Demona and most of Israeli nuclear stuckpile there will be glass during the initial retaliation of Iran. Infact Israel might turn to new japan as the second un-inhabited nuclear watseland in the world. Iran has said some 350 targets in israel and some 150 targets of US and its allies in the region will be targeted and hit. All together some 500 targets will be destroyed during Initial retaliation of Iran.

It is because Iran just showed it has now GPS in their missiles. It can now also pin point target Israeli facilities.

If they do and manage some direct hits on Israel’s nuclear-bio-and chemical weapons stockpiles, the ensuing disaster will prompt an Israeli response.

PIN THIS PUPPY

A decision to shut down a nuclear facility, for any country, is not done on a whim.

And shut it down WITHOUT a scheduled restart date.

THIS is the harbinger of DOOM!!

Its on.

I wonder why this got past Debka and JP,but yes this is noteworthy,as this is one of the protocols that needs to happen before any sort of attack can take place.

Next will be call ups in Israel proper.

Then Americans will arrive, followed by a pause for intel then anything could happen.

Re: Iranian war fears spark closure of Israel reactor
Generals are quoted as saying the Iranians possess about 15 thousand missiles capable of reaching Israel.

The Dimona reactor has been working since 1964.

[link to english.ruvr.ru]

Deactivating the reactor in the southern Negev desert would minimise the dangers of nuclear fallout in the area "should it be targeted by missiles from as far away as Iran".

The official explanation is that work on the reactor is conducted for research and does not need to be carried out around the clock.

The last line on that blog was very telling: "According to defence sources, the shutdown at Dimona would begin before the launch of any Israeli or US assault on Iran's nuclear facilities."

Re: Iranian war fears spark closure of Israel reactor
U.S. Defense Secretary Leon Panetta previewed the exercise in a speech last month, saying it would be an example of unprecedented levels of defense cooperation that the Obama administration has achieved “to back up our unshakable commitment to Israel’s security.”

Panetta said the drills will enhance the ability of the two military forces to operate together and test new ballistic missile and rocket defenses. “Those new capabilities are themselves a product of this unprecedented defense cooperation.”
