That photo is total hoax. His shadow doesn't even match the lighting in the photo. If that's a screen shot of a video, where's the rest of the video to prove it?

Been looking around on other places and this video havent really been debunked yet. The viral marketing made by students dosent hold up.

Even if that foto is real and he was in French in 1980 when the foto was taken only means that he may have been visiting.

Additionally, the 1980 in the left upper corner of the video could have been added afterwards together with the english subs when the video was converted from BETAMAX or whatever to digital.

Regarding, his fluent French it means nothing, if he really immigrated to the US when he was 10 he must have done so with his family and I guarantee you that they continued to speak french at home especially given that they are french and proud of their language.

I'm from France and I came here to give my honest opinion about this video.

Everything in this video seems legit to me, the clothes and the furniture was available at this time...

There is nothing wrong with how he speaks french, someone who lives 20 years in California still speak french like any other.

He looks like someone who is 35-40 I don't see a problem with that each person is different.

About the "1980" in the corner and the subtitles, everyone should be able to understand that it wasn't in the original video but added nowadays.

And the video was probably aimed to a french public nothing wrong with that.

Even if it seems too neat to be from the 80's, we had a good quality back then if it was conserved properly.

Well I could continue but I think I made my point, the only way to know if it's real or fake is to find this guy or the source of this video (I don't think that [email protected] is related to the hm2012.ca website it's just random)

he speaks french too prefect.
he speaks parisienne french like a well educated person, which he is NOT.

his story goes that he migrated to California as a little boy of 10, from a small french village.
In any small french villages they DO NOT speak the parisienne french, they speak various and different dialects.
grammar speaking french people can pick from which part of France people come from due to the dialectic inflections.
This is the same in Italy and Spain.
A Naples or Rome or Florence native speaking italian in Milan, will be picked out in one second.

here is my point again : this man, in the interview speaks parisienne french.
if his story was to be believed, he should be speaking with a dialect accent from his native village.

when he went to California as a 10yo he would only have attended 2 0r 3 years of elementary school in his village, always speaking his native dialect with his friends and at home.
In California, he would have spoken his native dialect at home and translated english for his french-speaking parents.

in this interview, (wheather it was conducted in France or in Californie is irrelevant,) he should be speaking a dialect french, not a parisienen french having never been to paris.

The video is STUDIO QUALITY for 1980. And it's preserved far better than would be normally expected for anything outside of a major Network TV Studio production, back then.

The guys (in the video's) hair is obviously a wig, and he's made up professionally, too. The glasses he's wearing don't seem to have any prescription in them - further making me believe they're a prop, not real glasses needed for visual correction. These items cumulatively lead me to believe it's a modern day fake set up to look like it's from c. 1980. I was there in 1980 (and in fact that was the year I turned 30) and believe me, this kind of high quality video was well outside the reach of consumer video cameras and video recorders. If you doubt it, hop on the web and look at some of the old clips of TV shows from that same time period. Believe me, they were not this clear and their color on an old video tape would not hold up that well over thirty years of storage.

Many of you may not remember, but we didn't have digital video back then. Strictly analog and cameras and they were large, and expensive then, too. I know, I bought one - along with a c. 1979 Sony Betamax VCR. The camera was an RCA and color of course (the truth was that full color video cam's had finally come down to the "under $1000" price point where consumers were able to afford them) so I grabbed one that was on sale for $500 on a close-out. It needed a video recorder,intensely bright lights, and took a fairly good sized person to hold it on their shoulder or on a tripod when recording video. The 1980 versions of a video camera was as awkward as the Super-8 and 16mm movie cameras my parents used to film our birthday parties, Christmas, etc. a generation earlier. The main difference was this was on video tape and instantly viewable on any nearby tv, vs sending film out for developing and setting up a movie projector, screen, etc., to view the movies from an earlier generation. I remember shopping for a video movie light that snapped onto the camera, as well as a tripod on wheels to move around the living room, and the long (50') cables to feed the analog sound and video signal back to the VCR. Recording time was a max of maybe 1 hour. Less if you were recording in the highest quality mode.

Compared to digital video we so casually create and edit and share today, it was like any other antique. The Camera case was brushed aluminum, as was the carrying case (which cost an extra $110 on top of the cost of the camera itself.) By the time you bought the whole rig, camera, cables, tripod, lights, the Video Recorder, spare tapes in various qualities and various recording times, you were shelling out in excess of two grand in 1980 dollars. Equal to about $5000 today. Maybe a little more.

Good point Anonymous Coward 8510292! It really doesn't matter if the recording was in 1980 or any other date. His predictions are BS, he was way too vague on everything. Even over here on GLP we have hits with more specific predictions than this guy. He is not a psychic! :)

Actually it might be fake. Has anyone noticed that the time on the clock is saying the same time from the beginning of the video to the end. With all the editing that is evident in this video the entire interview must have taken over an hr but yet the time never changes. Its definitely staged.

Clock not working.This tape, apparently had been hidden for a long time.And someone has decided against his correct predictions of the last place that awaits us this year

Last I remember, clocks indeed did stop working from time to time, even in the 80s...
