Has anyone here on GLP ever self-published an ebook on Amazon ????

Just trying to decide whether it's worth the effort.

Isn't there SOMEBODY here who has done it ?????

I need to make some spare money... need a car in the worst way, and I'm a pretty decent writer. Been sitting on some novels for years. Too afraid of rejection to try publishing houses!!

I really need some advice.

Has anyone found success in doing so and is there any marketing advice to be had? I have a few novels on there myself yet have trouble finding my audience.

I published a memoir on iuniverse.com. It did well, not fantastic. Made about $1000 after paying the setup fee of about $300.00. It is publishing on demand, and books are printed as orders come in - you get 20% royalty. Most importantly, you book gets an ISBN number and goes to amazon.com and barnesandnobel.com immediately.

Amazon can ruin you before you get started if some asshole, who decides to review your book as his/her only review... wants to give you a bad review.

Try Smashwords.com I like them a lot better and if you make the "premium list" you are for sale on ALL the major bookstores.

Hmm, I've never heard of Smashwords.com but I'll look into it. I have a few on Amazon now, have had them on Lulu and myebook.com also but I feel I haven't been able to get them out much. I'm not sure what strategy to go about marketing, I don't want to be a douche like many and spam forums in attempt to self-promote.
