That would be the ultimate disaster. A major earthquake that triggers a tsunami in the Atlantic is far more likely than the "La Palma" volcano scenario. I highly doubt the volcanoes in the Canary Islands could do such a thing.

My cousin lives in Atlantic Beach, FL right on the beach and she's a good 50 feet above sea level.

I really hope an event like that does not happen.

I just took a look on Google Earth and most of that area is between 9 ft and 13 ft above sea level.

The Canary islands have produced MANY tsunamis from volcanic eruptions, landslides, etc....and are poised to do so again. You can "highly doubt" whatever you want, it HAS HAPPENED before, and WILL HAPPEN again, and would be exponentially worse than an EQ triggered tsunami from the Caribbean.

I'm tired of these people predicting a HUGE EARTHQUAKE on the east coast!!!...I'M ON LONG ISLAND and if it does i'm totally screwed.
