Targeted Cash Register Coupons (tracking your purchases)

My husband just told me that he's concerned about the cash register coupons he's been getting at Walgreens. He said that they keep giving him coupons for things he buys regularly.

I told him, "Duh, you use your debit card every time you go to Walgreens. They keep tabs on your purchases."

"Yeah," he told me, "but the coupons I'm getting are for things I never buy at Walgreens, they're for things I buy at the supermarket."

"Ok, so they have a huge database connected to all of your debit card purchases that you make anywhere."
